The concept of dogs and cats being friends is by no means new. The world over, feline friends and canine companions form strong bonds from an early age whether in the home, on the street or while waiting to find a family. They’re not just our best friends, but oftentimes, each other’s best friends too.
They often fall into the roles of dogs being the loyal protector, and cats finding the comfort in their affections….But that’s not always the case.
As with these funny, furry friends to-be.
This kitten is new to this home in Gloucester, England. While kids or other family members may be vying for the attention of the wee kitty, they wouldn’t be alone. That’s because they will have to compete for attention with this soppy dog who wants nothing more than to be this brand new kitten’s new best friend.
Aloof as cats tend to be, the kitten goes about its business.
It happily minds its own business doing things that cats usually do. For the uninitiated in the world of cat activities, that means a lot of self cleaning. This kitten however doesn’t get a chance to do anything before this doggy, desperate for attention buries his nose under the cat, bowling it over in the process.
When the kitten finds its balance again, it regains its composure.
The dog however maintains its puppy-eyed stare. Big and sad looking, this doggo is pulling out all the tricks which normally work on people. On cats…not so much.
But by George, he keeps on trying.
Continuing to nudge the kitty, he eventually turns around as if to say “what the heck man!” he even throws a playful swipe out at the dogs snout. Or, at least I think it was playful, this kitten could be getting tired of these shenanigans.
To be fair, this dog isn’t the only thing getting in the way of this kitten doing what it wants.
Sometimes this cat is held back by just being so dang adorably clumsy. At one point as it’s trying to lick itself, it rolls off the edge of the fluffy carpet and completely loses balance. It’s the same with babies as with kittens, these little clumsy moments are the height of cuteness.
After some more persistent nudging from the doggo, this kitten seems to seek interference.
At the same time they both look up to their parent out of frame. The kitten seems to be looking for help escaping the onslaught of this clingy dog’s vying for attention. The dog himself seems to be trying his puppy-eyes technique on those whom it tends to work with.
Whether this is the first time these pets are meeting for the first time is unclear, but either way, it seems like they will in time become wonderful friends. At least it looks like this dog won’t give up until that’s the case!
