What would you do if you came across a massive alligator?
Most of us would run, while others who are braver would choose to capture the rare moment for everyone to see.
That’s what happened here.
After the rain brought by tropical storm Eta, assistant golf professional Tyler Stolting was strolling at Valencia Golf and Country Club.
That’s when he saw something massive.
“Out corner of my eye, I had to do a double take,” he said in his interview with KGET. “I didn’t really know what it was so I tried to get a little closer and then I’m like ‘Woah!’”
Stolting saw a massive alligator.
He was just taking a stroll through the golf course.
Before you get scared, alligators are actually amazing creatures. They are reptiles and are a member of the crocodilian family.
Most people are confused when asked about the difference between crocodiles and alligators.
First, alligators are mostly dark green or black. They have a u-shaped snout and tiny black spots. They are smaller than crocodiles.
Crocodiles are way bigger, and they have a v-shaped snout. They are more aggressive.
Five fun facts about gators:
- Did you know that the gender of gators will depend on the temperature? If the nest is warm, males are born. When the temperature of their nest is cooler, then females are born.
- Alligators can be quite fast if they want to. Scary, right? Though, by doing this, they would tire quickly.
- Unlike their reptile cousins, alligators actually take care of their babies. How sweet is that? They make sure they are well-fed and safe from predators.
- Unlike crocodiles, alligators won’t survive in saltwater.
- Alligators, along with other crocodilian families, are considered ancient. They didn’t change much since the time of the great dinosaurs. Maybe, size is one of them but their looks didn’t change much. They are still as Jurassic as they can get.
No wonder they still look like they belong to the Jurassic era.
Just like this alligator Stolting saw.
The weather was still bad, but it seemed like this massive alligator got bored and decided it would be fun to stroll the golf course.
It turns out he’s a local.
Other neighbors weren’t surprised because they knew this alligator. They said that his nickname was Al, and he is a regular on this golf course.
The people there don’t bother him as long as no one gets too close or hurt.
Al seems to know his limits. He was seen casually enjoying the weather and the golf course to himself.
“I don’t even think the video does it justice, in person it looked gigantic, it really looks like a Jurassic Park creature,” Stolting said.
It was true.
Look at Al’s tale, and you’ll see how big he is.
What would you do?
We’re pretty sure, as long as you don’t come too close to him, it’s okay to record this rare sight, just like what Stolting did.
Alligators are amazing creatures that will surely make anyone feel fascinated.
