People who have domestic pets, you know, dogs, cats, fish, birds, and so on, get to see their unique interactions all the time. That includes how animals behave with their species, as well as others. So, it’s easy to take amazing things for granted.
But when it comes to wild animals, that’s an entirely different story. For a lot of people, the only chance they get to see something like a bear is by visiting a zoo. For that reason, they can only imagine how they live in their natural environment.
We hear stories all the time about bears attacking other animals and even people. But when you consider how large this animal population is, the number of negative occurrences is rare. Thanks to an incredible sanctuary, millions of people go to witness what might take place in the wild between a bear cub and a fawn.
Point View Farm
Located in Hillsboro, West Virginia is an animal sanctuary where the staff takes in all kinds of creatures that were abandoned, neglected, or injured. Their goal is to rehabilitate and release them back into the wild. But for those that can’t return to their habitat, they have a forever home at Point View Farm.
Specializing in bears
Due to its location, this sanctuary sees its fair share of bears. One of them is a tiny cub they named Boog. As they explained, this little guy was quite the squeaker, which made him all the more adorable.
Something new
At the Point West Farm, they also deal with a lot of deer, especially fawns. One day, Boog noticed one wandering around. He was super curious but far too shy to approach this interesting creature. But slowly, he takes a chance and creeps closer.
Coming face to face
As Boog gets braver, he inches nearer to the fawn. That’s when she stretches her neck out to sniff him. But instead of going any closer, this sweet bear became nervous.
On high alert
Here you have this defenseless fawn wanting to make friends with a bear. But that’s when Boog’s instincts kicked in. Not knowing whether this other animal was a friend or foe, he backed up. Then he did the cutest thing…he stood up on his hind legs.
Try it again
After holding his pose for a few seconds, Boog decides he’ll try again. So, he moves toward the fawn, hoping they can become the best of friends. At this point, the fawn hasn’t budged.
Too shy
But as he gets closer, he has a change of mind. For whatever reason, shyness enveloped him. So, he retreated toward the staircase where he’d have a better place to hide.
Not today
Even though Boog wanted to make a new friend, he just couldn’t muster up the courage. Instead, he kept his body behind the railing with only his head peaking out. He still wanted to watch the fawn but without getting so close.
Poor little thing
Throughout the ordeal, you can hear an individual trying to encourage the cub to meet his new friend. But then, he kind of makes fun of him…why would a bear be afraid of a fawn? It’s so incredibly funny.
The video went viral
With something as amazing as this, it’s not surprising the video racked up more than 6.3 million views. The encounter between Boog and the fawn might’ve taken place at the sanctuary but it provides a glimpse of what their interaction could’ve looked like if they were in the wild. Of course, if mama bear had been around, things would’ve been different.
People began to comment right away. One person posted, “Boog is going to feel so embarrassed when he sees this video all grown up.” They could be right. Another individual had this to say, “Seeing a bear cub stand on their hind legs has to be the cutest thing ever.” We agree.
