One of those ear-shatteringly shrill noises that can shatter the air and shoot straight through your soul is a crying baby. Maybe it’s biologically programmed, in order to ensure that we take care of our young. Maybe, it’s just a terrible noise at just the right frequency to send shivers down our spines. Either way, there are books upon books written about why baby’s cry, and how to gently stop their wails.
Some people however, have found that a little help can go a long way.
And hat help may not exactly come from a “trained” babysitter…
“This is how you make a baby stop crying”.
This proud dad has a crying baby, and he needs to do something about it. Note, I presume he’s proud of his daughter Abby, but that’s not exactly what I’m talking about. Rather, he’s certainly very proud of his ability to stop his little one from crying. Or maybe I shouldn’t say his way…
Calling in the help of a professional!
When you need help, you’ve gotta call in the pros. For this dad, it’s his “best friend”, his Siberian husky named Sophie. It seems like he and Sophie have something of a special connection. Where most people can ask their dogs to sit, stand, roll over or fetch, this guy can outsource soothing his baby.
Dad gives the command.
Sophie, having heard that Abby was crying was ready and waiting to help. As so as Dad gives the word, she does as she’s asked.
“Sophie! Help Abby stop crying. Can you howl for Abby?”
Without hesitation, before Dad can even finish the word “howl”, Sophie gets to work with her…let’s say soulful howling.
And hey, it works!
As if under an enchantment, young Abby immediately stops crying, and turns to Sophie. I wonder how long it took for Dad to figure out that a howl from his furry friend would sooth Abby’s soul? You’d think that a husky howling at you would make you more inclined to wail, but it seems to do quite the opposite for Abby.
Although, it hasn’t completely settles the water for Abby.
In what seems like a moment of reflection, Abby appears to contemplate her sadness. What does she have to be so upset about? She’s a baby!
Nevertheless, once again Sophie doesn’t miss a beat.
Without a second wasted, she begins her sweet howling song again. It may not sound sweet to us, but by the looks of it, it sounds mighty sweet to Abby! Looking at Dad as she serenades Abby with her howls, it almost seems like a beautiful song.
At last Abby seems captivated.
Finally drawing Abby’s full attention, Sophie seems to have done it. Sophie is captivated by the hound’s beautiful song.
Sophie almost seems to have captivated herself in her song.
Her eyes cross comically as she sings, as if it is taking every ounce of concentration to perfectly nail every note. You can’t say she’s not putting everything she has into it.
A job well done.
However they found out that this works, and how Sophie is able to understand her dad’s instructions and howl so beautifully on cue, it’s clear that this whole happy family works together. I’m sure that Abby will grow up with Sophie as her best friend and guardian.
