All babies need their mother’s love and care.

This is true even in the wild. However, there would be some cases when the mother experiences too much stress that prevents them from tending to their young.

One December day, Mei Mei, a Francois’ Langur, gave birth to her offspring, Quý Báu.

François’ langurs are medium-sized monkeys native to Southeast Asia.

According to IUCN, the François’ langurs are endangered animals.

This is due to habitat loss and fragmentation caused by deforestation.

Agricultural expansion and urbanization are also great factors.

Let’s not forget the dangers of illegal wildlife trade and hunting.

This is the reason why each birth is important.

François’ langurs are distinct from their black and white coloration.

You’d notice the black fur on their body, head, and limbs, while their face, hands, and feet are white or light gray.

However, newborns have orange fur that gradually changes as they mature.

Quý Báu, pronounced as “Kwee Bow,” is the offspring of Chester and Mei Mei.

She was the first successful breeding of this species at the Zoo.

This is why they gave her a very special name.

The name Quý Báu translates to “something that is precious because it is unique and you never want to lose,” in Vietnamese.

Everyone rejoiced as they saw how tiny and beautiful Quý Báu was.

Unfortunately, they noticed that Mei Mei wasn’t tending to her newborn baby.

In the wild, this is not uncommon.

There are some animals that refuse to take care of their offspring because they lack maternal instincts.

Sometimes, it’s also due to inadequate resources, physical or health issues, predation risk, or even poor offspring quality.

The staff of the zoo realized what was happening and took over the care of Quý Báu.

They were so happy to take care of the baby.

One of the first things that they did was to give Quý Báu a much-needed bath.

What happened next surprised everyone and even went viral.

While enjoying her bath, Quý Báu hugged her caretaker’s fingers.

She loved the relaxing warm bath and seemed to feel comfortable with her loving caretaker.

The staff would cuddle her, feed her, and even bring Mei Mei for cuddles.

After some time, Mei Mei got over her anxiety and opened her heart to her daughter.

Her motherly instincts were always there. She just needed more time.

Vet tech Jenna was the lucky person that named this adorable baby Quý Báu.

She definitely suits her name, do you agree?

Those beautiful big eyes, small head, and mouth will definitely make you love her even more.

In Francois’ Langur groups, other females would often be as caring to an offspring as the mother would.

They act as “aunties” for the baby Francois’ Langur.

The zoo staff was so happy to see Mei Mei and Quý Báu bond with each other.

Of course, Daddy Chester and the aunties of the groups also take care of their little baby.
