The striking appearance of the Alaskan Malamute is definitely the first thing you’d notice about the breed. Among the oldest of the sled dog breeds of the Arctic, the Malamute is believed to be a descendant of domesticated wolf-dogs that once migrated into North America 4,000 years ago, which explains its distinct physical features.

Today, Alaskan Malamutes are considered to be extremely lovable pets. With powerful shoulders and thick bones, these affectionate dogs are also known for being hardworking.

What’s also endearing about this breed is how much they enjoy snuggling with their humans!

They’re pack animals which means you have to establish your role as its leader. The risks of adopting a Malamute who doesn’t respect you are far too great. But that rarely happens as they’re quite intelligent, so discipline coupled with firm but loving training can be done in early puppyhood. (Source: akc.org)

Gentle, sweet, and great with kids, most Alaskan Malamute owners have nothing but positive things to say about their large, fluffy pets.

Both are big babies who have a pretty good relationship with the pet cat, Milo.

Best of all, they get along perfectly with Mia, the most important member of the family.

After all, it does take a village to raise a child… And bathe a dog, apparently. Despite the impressive qualities of Malamutes, they’ve got their fair share of quirks, too. After all, just like humans, each one is unique.

One of Phil’s funny traits is his aversion to bath time.

Considering he loves playing outside and getting dirty, it’s comical how the idea of bathing doesn’t sit well with Phil at all.

That’s why getting him into the tub and actually convincing him to stay long enough for a bath takes quite a while, with teamwork involved.

And this time, even little Mia pitched in!

It’s obviously a happy, loving household judging by the way they laugh together, even if it’s about something as ordinary as bath time for the dog.

“It appeared that all we needed to do was have a walking Mia provide morale support at the side of the bath as surprisingly, yet begrudgingly, he got straight in (with the speed and elegance of a sloth). Mia and Phil are the cutest duo ever!”

Before Mia worked her magic and toddled over to the side of the tub to offer moral support, it was Milo who first tried his hand – er, paw – at convincing Phil.

And it worked. Kind of.

Phil tried to escape at one point but bath time is non-negotiable, so sorry buddy.

Who knew all it would take for a giant Malamute to stay put for bath time is a tiny human?

Lovingly called “the cutest duo ever” by their mom, Phil and Mia obviously understand each other. Thanks to this moment, mom and dad now know who to recruit for help when it’s time to give Phil a bath.
