Did you have any pets when you were a child growing up? Chances are if you flip open an old photo album, you’re going to find a picture of a baby rolling around on the carpet with a dog at some point. While parental supervision is required to make sure nobody gets hurt during these play sessions, letting a dog and a baby play together can make them form a lifelong friendship. Still, while babies and dogs tend to get along famously, even dogs need their space sometimes.
One video sweeping the internet right now proves exactly that.
The clip shows baby Hollis and his best friend Max Jean.
When it starts, the two are cuddling together in a lounge chair—and Hollis is straining a little bit. Hollis’s mom is filming and after a moment she identifies what the trouble is. “Oh, you look like you’re about to poo-poo or something,” she says. Max Jean, meanwhile, seems none the wiser to what’s going on—even though the little boy is lying completely on him!
All the while, Mom keeps petting Max Jean from behind the camera.
After a few moments, Hollis starts straining in earnest.
For those who don’t know, digestion is a real challenge for babies after all. Passing food can be tricky, so the mom in the video does her best to encourage her son Hollis. Still, nobody is thinking about poor Max Jean in this whole process. At the very end of the video, Hollis pushes one last time—and definitely fills his diaper. Nobody within earshot could’ve mistaken that terrifying sound for what it was.
And Max Jean knows exactly what it is too.
Max Jean suddenly bolts upright and turns towards Hollis, almost in shock.
Without a moment’s notice, Max Jean leaps up and out of the chair to get away from Hollis—and Hollis topples over on his side as the dog leaves! The comic timing of this clip is almost too perfect to describe and has amassed more than 14 million views so far. “Whoopsie!” Mom yells at the very end of the clip.
The video was originally submitted to America’s Funniest Home Videos by Christopher Whitworth and his wife.
Though originally submitted back in October of 2011, it is enjoying a new surge of popularity. Still, YouTube commenters have their own opinions on the clip:
As gross as it may be, it is also hilarious. We bet you’ll watch it more than once.
