People have this negative impression and stereotype regarding big dogs. Many people think they are vicious and should not be around children. It’s time to stop this stigma against big breeds.

These dogs can be the gentlest giants when trained well. Experts would say that the disposition of these dogs depends on how humans around them treat them. They turn out to be kind and loving if raised in that environment.

The Coming of Two Babies

This couple thought of getting a dog, and they got Drax the Cane Corso when he was only eight weeks old. Even then, he was already a big puppy, as expected of his breed.

Around the same time, the couple also discovered that they were having a baby. They didn’t intend it, but it seemed fate had something beautiful in store for them.

A Protective Big Brother

Even during pregnancy, Drax was already protective of his little brother inside the tummy. He would sit on his mom’s lap and keep licking her belly. It’s as if he couldn’t wait to meet him!

The moment his little brother was born, they became inseparable.

Socializing and Desensitizing

According to the mother, the most important thing in raising a big dog and a child simultaneously is properly socializing and desensitizing them. So, when the baby was born, they let Drax observe from afar to get used to the baby’s presence.

They have a crib and playpen for the baby, and Drax would always be outside watching him. Since then, he was always by his side and a big brother to this baby.

The Bond of Brothers

Drax loved soaking in the baby’s presence. He would lie beside him and stare at this little human. He would sit when the baby was lying awake, playing, and just be with him every step. When they were trying to work on their baby rolling over, Drax was there on his back as if showing him how it’s done.

They were like magnets; the two always played together, and Drax was the gentlest big brother this baby could ever have.

The mother said she credited it to Drax that their baby was an early walker. She said that her little boy always wanted to keep up with his pup so he could be anywhere he went.

Enjoying Each Other’s Company

One of the things that Drax and his little brother love doing is looking out the window. They’ve been doing so for years!

Whenever they heard a sound from outside, the duo would run to the window and just watch. I bet if only these two could talk at that moment, they would have a meaningful conversation!

The little boy loved pointing at things as if telling Drax to look or if he saw what he saw. At times, it was a quiet encounter, simply staring out and enjoying each other’s company.

And let’s not forget when Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus visited these two! They both got very excited to see the pair, understanding who Santa was and what joy he brought to those who were nice all year.
