If there is one certainty in this world, it’s that some animals are so incredibly curious and mischievous that you can’t help but laugh at them.
After all, curiosity is a great trait to have, especially for animals. They’ll often wander around in new areas, try a bunch of new things or maybe just do things that they’re not supposed to! For some animals, breaking the rules is one of their favorite things to do.
And even though these animals don’t always listen to us humans, the smile and the expressions on their adorable faces can definitely be undeniable. We’ve compiled a great list of 40+ hilarious animals who really don’t care about the rules or what humans think of them.
1) Productivity, what’s that?
Having pets can definitely be a bit demanding sometimes, because most of them will always want to try and get your attention – even when you’re trying to be productive. This cat isn’t having any of that, and will gladly interrupt your work or study sessions by lying on your books or keyboard. That smile makes up for it, though!
Trying to take a picture-perfect – or should we say, picture-purrfect – shot can be a challenge, especially when you’ve got one pet who just never seems to listen to your instructions. This second pup here is a bit rebellious and decided to sit in the opposite direction, because why not.
The owner of this bunny is trying to compete in some sort of hopping competition, but it looks like our furry friend has no intention of doing anything physical. Instead of hopping over, he just grabs one of the sticks and runs right through!
For your own safety, it’s best to stay off of sea buoys – but that rule seemingly doesn’t apply to seals. This majestic and proud animal decided to jump right on one of the nearby buoys and is letting everyone bask in his glory. Luckily, seals can’t read the ‘security zone, stay off’ warning.
Playing with the ball is not allowed here, but this four-footed rebel isn’t letting any sign come between him and his fun. The happy and overly playful grin on his face is worth more than a thousand words (or signs).
6) Petting is unpreventable
Animals will always try and get what they want, that’s an absolute certainty. Even though petting the dogs isn’t allowed, you can’t tell this kitty what to do. If she wants to pet her canine friend, she’ll do exactly that. In case you’re wondering why the pup can’t be petted, it’s because he is training to become a search and rescue dog and can’t be petted while in the field.
Leaving your drinks unattended is never a good idea, and that’s especially true when there’s a cat around. This feline buddy can get jealous very easily: if the cat doesn’t get a drink, then nobody can get a drink. Simple as that.
8) Who says you need to sleep inside?
These dog crates are made for sleeping, and there’s no one – animal or human alike – that will deny that. This adorable husky, however, has the tendency of bending the rules. Instead of sleeping inside, he just sleeps right on top of it! As long as it works, it works.
9) Don’t lay on the couch
The owner of this adorable pup has one golden role: don’t lay on the couch. Technically, this dog isn’t even breaking the rules. He isn’t allowed to lay on it, but the owner never said anything about laying in it! Smart pups are the best pups.
10) Something isn’t right
If you’re trying to harvest eggs from these animals, we can imagine you’d have a hard time with the one at the end. This bunny has infiltrated this group of chickens and it looks like he’s doing a pretty good so far. We can only hope that the owner doesn’t expect eggs from the bunny!
This dog is a true rulebreaker. The parents of this pup went on a vacation and had only one rule for the housesitter: no sleeping on dad’s pillow. It only took two hours for this dog to jump right in bed and claim it as his own pillow property. What a rebel!
12) Who can resist a pup like this?
There are some things in life that are simply more important than rules. The immense cuteness of this furry caramel puppy is a perfect example of that. ‘Please keep dogs off the lawn,’ the sign reads, but with a cute look like this, this pup has got to be welcome everywhere.
13) Reading signs isn’t their strong suit
Some birds just like to live their life on the edge. Sometimes even quite literally, like in this case. Despite the warning sign, these two friends are simply enjoying each other’s company in a nice spot. And what a view like that, you can’t blame them for ignoring the sign!

Some things just last forever, just ask the person who has been pouring this cement. A random duck thought it’d be a great idea to imprint some waddle marks on the slab. Now it definitely has a unique touch to it!
The way this cat opens the door is definitely unique, and it seems like this feline wants to enter the house in the coolest way imaginable. First, the cat pushes down on the doorhandle, only to go through the cat door anyway. This feline definitely likes to make an entrance.
16) Maybe he just wants to play golf?
Even though the forest is this bear’s favorite place to hang out, it looks like the golf course would come in at a close second. However, running around in those huge courses is a bit tiring, so this bear decided to sit in the driver’s seat of a cabby instead.
17) You can’t tell this cat what to do
This feline doesn’t like being told what to do. With a determined and fierce look, the cat simply ignores the ‘do not stand or sit’ warning on the device. In fact, it looks like the cat is trying to stand up and sit at the same time, which makes this attitude even more awesome. One thing is for sure: this cat gets it.
Some squirrels just want to see the world burn. This rebellious and furry little thing was seen resting on a historic tree, which is supposed to be preserved and can’t be touched. As it turns out, however, this rebel squirrel simply doesn’t listen to authority.
There is not a single cage on the planet that will keep this chow chow in place. The four-footer simply refuses to be tamed or held by anything, as you can clearly see for yourself! The rebellious pup simply runs around anyway, taking the cage with him.
This baby panda’s curiosity always seems to get the best of her. You can definitely say that this small panda knows how to give her animal caregivers a hard time! She is always keen to explore new things and her keepers even had to try and prevent her from falling.
On some beaches, pets simply aren’t allowed. This dog isn’t having any of that, however, and even decided to attack a ‘no dogs allowed’ sign. Well, if there are no signs, then there aren’t any problems as well, right? That’s exactly what this naughty four-footer must’ve thought.
This cat may very well be the real-life version of the popular ‘nope’ meme and image. Even though pets aren’t allowed anywhere near lab equipment, this feline decided that it would be a great napping spot. It’s a good thing animals can’t read!

What’s more fun that one rebellious cat? Two of them, of course. This mama cat decided to teach some of the rule-breaking antics to her baby, and you can just tell she’s proud. The rebellious trait runs in the family!

Look closer, because this squid is a master at camouflage. “Somebody tried to stump this squid by putting it in front of a background that its camouflage mechanisms could never hope to imitate… So it turned itself transparent,” the person who took this picture wrote. How incredibly cool is that!
29) Swinging is for everyone
It doesn’t matter how old you are, you can always have a lot of fun on a swing. It turns out, however, that swinging isn’t only for us humans, because this pup was more than happy to take the baby swing for a spin. Look at his happy face!
Have you seen this dog? He’s gone missing. Oh, never mind, the four-footer is right there! The tired dog must think that humans can be so oblivious sometimes, but it does make for a great and hilarious picture.
In this park, the rules can be quite strict. Skateboards and bicycles aren’t allowed, for example, but the same can be said for dogs and cats. It doesn’t look like the cats are listening to the rules and signs, however. In fact, it looks like they’re having a cat conference instead!

33) So many cool things in one picture
It’s said that a picture says more than a thousand words, and this is a perfect example of that. Just look at this incredibly cool and suave chimp getting ready to drive. The hat is the amazing icing on the cake.
As a dog owner, you might think that getting a pillow that says ‘no dogs on this sofa’ is a good investment. However, dogs never care about the rules – especially when they’re written on a pillow. After all, the adorable labrador’s happiness is way more important than sofa rules in the house.
It looks like the owner of this beautiful snow-white pup didn’t spot the spot the sign. Whoops! And if you take a close look at the sign, you’ll notice that it looks like the spitting image of the dog. What a rebellious cutie!
We have to admit, these pocket gophers are smart and cunning. If they want to get rid of a ‘no feeding’ sign, they’ll just chew it off and hide it somewhere in one of their nests. Problem solved!
When the owners of this adorable pup got home, they were surprised to see one of the pillow couches attached to her collar. That doesn’t sound like anything remarkable, right? There’s a catch: she was never allowed to be on the couch in the first place. Oopsie!
38) The police can’t stop him
This large and mischievous turtle won’t let anyone scare him, not even the police. You can clearly tell that the shelled animal is trying to trespass, but it’ll probably take a while before he reaches the other side of the fence anyway.
39) That’s something you don’t see every day
Alpaca’s are quite possibly the coolest animals on the planet, and this picture only strengthens that claim. The person who took this shot honked at the car in front, and what happened next is quite unique. An alpaca popped out and with a fierce look! It’s best not to mess with this alpaca.
40) Defiantly breaking the rules
This pup isn’t allowed to stand on the dining room table but never seems to listen. His owner decided to send him outside for a while as punishment, but the pup’s response is absolutely brilliant.
Everybody knows that monkeys can be quite the acrobats, but this picture certainly takes it to the next level. Oh, and the sign? Well, if you can’t understand the sign, then there’s no reason why the rules should apply.
Dogs and sofas, they don’t always go along – at least, according to most owners. This adorable and majestic pup, however, is totally living the life and couldn’t care less what the pillow says. She owns the place and she knows it!
43) This one probably won’t help
At the London Waterloo station, a lot of pigeons tend to show up because people keep feeding them breadcrumbs. Signs were put into place to help get the place ‘pigeon proof’, but we can imagine that this buddy probably won’t be willing to assist.
This cute little hamster figured out a method to make the hamster wheel move, while actually staying in a comfortable position. Well, everybody has their own method of doing fitness, and the hamster is technically exercising.
If you think that all four-footers are always in for a game of fetch, think again. This unamused canine is not in the mood for playing at all, he simply doesn’t play by the rules! And the whole thing just gets funnier every time you rewatch it.
46) Cleverly hiding the spot
No dogs allowed? That’s just a terrible thing to write on the street. This clever and joyful pup isn’t having any of that and figured out a brilliant method to turn this text into something more positive. She was just sitting on the ‘no’. Some really good thinking there, dogs are always allowed!
47) Not everything has to be for the cats
Cats absolutely adore large pieces of cat furniture, and they’ll often spend most of their day hanging out in the cat trees, towers and scratching posts. But who said that these were for cats only? This pup was a little bit jealous and decided to use it for himself. Look at how happy he looks!
Well, technically, this dog isn’t exactly breaking the rules. Swimming in this fountain isn’t allowed – although one could wonder how you could even swim in such shallow waters – yet this dog wanted to get a taste of the water anyway. What a rebellious hound.
Even though most animals in this list may be small and cute, this elephant certainly is a bit more intimidating due to his size. As you can see, the gentle giant has had enough of these playground rules, to say the least. Coming through!
50) We got a rebel over here
Watch out, because we’ve got ourselves a rebel over here. Meet Holly. She’s an adorable, kind pup and loves going on walks with her owner, but as soon as she spots a ‘no dogs allowed’ sign, she has the urge to stand in front of the sign anyway. Holly doesn’t care about the rules.
As you can see, animals can definitely have a little bit of a rebellious side, but when they do, it usually ends up turning into a hilarious story or a great moment. Breaking the rules is always going to be fun to them!
