Cats are cute (no argument there) and come in many different shapes and sizes. Some cats, however, are also super famous!
I’d like to introduce you to Albert— inarguably one of the most popular Munchkin cats online.
Albert is a Munchkin cat his very own Instagram account. The page is jam-packed with fluffy photos that showcase the kitty’s tiny, little legs and incredibly lavish lifestyle!
Munchkin cats get their short little legs from a genetic mutation, and they were only deemed an official breed in 1994. Munchkin cats’ adorably short legs mean they tend to walk a little funny— but realistically, these little kitties are pretty much the cutest cats ever.
Unsurprisingly, Munchkins’ small legs mean the cats are incredibly short in height. In fact, the record holder for ‘shortest living cat’ (according to Guinness World Records) is held by a Munchkin named Lilieput. She’s a tortoiseshell from Napa, California that is only 5.15″ tall!
Although Albert isn’t quite as tiny as Lilieput, his humans love to dress him in silly costumes and outfits— an activity which delights his thousands of devoted fans!
When Albert’s not dressing up or posing for heartwarming photos, he loves hanging out with his best friend and cat-sibling, a beautiful, white Scottish fold named Goyanggy.
Here’s Albert giving Goyanggy a little bath!
It’s hard to pinpoint what makes Albert so mesmerizing. His fluffy fur, piercing blue eyes, and adorable Munchkin frame are all elements that add to his appeal.
Not to mention, he also has quite the personality…
Since his humans started sharing his photos, Albert has grown quite an online following. Currently, his albertbabycat account boasts over 582,000 followers— and as of this moment, that number is only going up.
Munchkins like Albert are cute— but they’re also controversial. As is the case with many specialized breeds, there are always concerns regarding Munchkin cats’ health. Vet Info, however, says these fears are unfounded. Munchkin cats are as healthy as can be!
“The Munchkin cat is a breed with short legs, similar to the Dachshund dog breed,” they explain. “The Dachshund dog breed is well known for spinal deformities and disorders, but the Munchkin cat has none.”
