Dogs are generally not known for concealing their emotions. In most cases, their happiness or distress is quite apparent.
However, every now and then, you encounter a dog that displays an unexpectedly stoic demeanor.
This guy’s staying strong for the camera.
Such was the case for a Canadian dog groomer who faced a challenging client determined to maintain a serious attitude throughout the session.
However, the situation took a comical twist when the groomer introduced the hairdryer into the equation.
“Girl With The Dogs” documented her amusing encounter while bathing Kuma, an Akita.
It’s safe to say Kuma’s in love.
Vanessa, known as “Girl With The Dogs” on her YouTube page, is a professional pet groomer in real life.
Her channel features a variety of videos where she shares her encounters while grooming various dog breeds.
Typically, the dogs she grooms exhibit outgoing and joyful behavior, or at the very least, they express their emotions quite prominently.
Kuma plays hard to get, however.
Throughout his grooming session, Kuma, the Akita, maintains a consistently serious expression, which adds a humor to the situation.
It’s quite entertaining to witness a dog remain so stoic and calm for an extended period.
Akitas were initially bred for hunting and combat purposes.
In Japan, they are regarded as symbols of good health, longevity, and happiness.
Additionally, Akitas were specifically bred to excel in protecting families and their owners.
Naturally, Akitas are not inherently more dangerous than other dogs, it can depend on how they are raised, as well as many other variables.
Nevertheless, Kuma’s breed could potentially explain his limited display of emotions throughout the majority of the video.
Vanessa, the person behind the popular YouTube channel “Girl With The Dogs,” approached Kuma’s bath session with some uncertainty, unsure of how he would respond to the experience.
Kuma’s naturally serious expression meant there was no smile to be found during the experience.
Vanessa observed and made note of Kuma’s apparent mood during that time.
She said, “As I rinsed Kuma down, he stares at me like a disappointed father after parent-teacher interviews.”
Vanessa highlights the challenge of providing a comfortable cleaning experience for Akitas.
However, Kuma’s demeanor quickly shifted at a crucial moment—the introduction of the blow dryer.
Once the bathing part of the bath concludes, Vanessa proceeds to dry Kuma’s fur.
Surprisingly, he absolutely loves it!
While sometimes dogs can be difficult to groom, with them in obvious distress, this dog has a different outlook on it.
While Vanessa works on drying his coat, Kuma starts showing the signs of a happy dog.
Although Kuma doesn’t wag his tail like a typical happy dog, this is the first instance throughout the entire bath where he shows even the slightest hint of expression.
Witnessing his rapid and pronounced change in expression solely due to the presence of a blow dryer is truly delightful.
It’s amusing to observe how a bath can evoke emotions from this usually reserved dog!
Seeing this dog’s sudden burst of emotion is a heartwarming experience due to his typically stoic personality.
