Calling all new mommies, can we have some show of hands here?
Life can be stressful when you just gave birth – maybe some of you remember how that felt! It brings happiness to see your little one swaddled with their small mouth and closed eyes.
But admit it – the feeding, changing of diapers, and crying every now and then can be a pain at times. (Sorry, kids!) Sometimes, all you need is a quiet time or a “me” time, even for just a few minutes.
Guess what? Humans are not alone in these sentiments; animals feel this, too!
The only difference is that some species have a way of disciplining their offspring even at a very young age. Most of these modes of discipline are either their way of protecting their kids or part of their survival.
Just like this mother cat who seemed a bit annoyed with her kitten.
This video garnered three million views because it is both adorable and funny, and maybe a good number of those who laughed at this could relate to this mama cat.
In the video, you could see how one of her kittens looked confused and didn’t know where to go. She just wanted to snuggle and cuddle, but her other siblings had each other on the side (you would see them later in the video cuddled at the mama cat’s hind legs).
The little kitten slowly walked near hermmother’s head.
She wanted to scooch between her head and front legs, but it seemed like this little one couldn’t decide what position she wanted. She moved around, and the mama cat started to get annoyed and gave her a little slap.
Just when you thought she had learned her lesson, she stopped where she was, but she started licking her mother’s neck and face. The mama cat had no patience and started biting her neck.
If you are familiar with cats, you would know that when a mother cat bites their neck, especially by the back, the kitten will stay still – like they are frozen or something. That’s what happened to this little cat.
The mama cat might have had enough because she stood up and walked away!
As a human, it may seem surprising to see a cat leaving its baby alone. But for cats, this is natural behavior, especially for mother cats who have just given birth.
They are naturally protective of their little ones and would carry their litter and transfer them one by one by biting their neck. They are also more aggressive – either to their kittens, other cats, or humans – because it is their way of protecting their young ones.
The people enjoyed this video so much – the number of views said it all.
Most people commented on how this melted their hearts, especially upon hearing the kitten purring or seeing the other two kittens snuggled up.
But most people commented on how they interpreted the mama cat’s actions as if they could totally relate to her. They found this too funny but too natural for cats at the same time.
