When pups see their humans, they get so excited. Whether it’s been three minutes or three months, their joy is overwhelming.

And that’s what happened at Kate Gueno’s wedding in Rhode Island.

Their dog, Colonel, a Labrador Retriever was supposed to be their groomsman/ring bearer.

They even hired a dog trainer to teach Colonel how to walk gracefully down the aisle while carrying their rings.

“The bride and groom had a slightly different expectation,” Danielle Marcheso, the dog trainer, said.

But Colonel had other plans. He sprinted down the aisle and jumped on the groom before knocking over the microphone. He just couldn’t contain himself!

Kate and her husband are not annoyed at Colonel for doing that. In fact, they actually expected that he would do that. Because they know that that’s how Colonel can best show his love and affection for his human parents.

And other dogs act the same when showing their affection for their humans or other humans.

Professional dog trainer Annie Phenix shared that dogs have different ways of showing their love.

And there are some who don’t show it at all!

Colonel loves to show it.

Tails betray emotions.

When a dog wags its tail fast and big, then they’re very excited to see you. When their tail is straight and stiff, they want to display dominance.

When the tail wags high, they’re happy and want to display dominance, too.

A dog also shows affection through their face.

Their eyes are soft and round and look straight at you. That’s how you know they’re telling you they love you.

If they’re staring at you without blinking, back up.

It’s not good.

Leaning on you is also a sign.

When you’re scratching them to say hello, they will also lean on your leg with soft eyes and an open mouth.

And then there are some dogs, like Colonel, who will jump on their humans to show their love for them.

And, like Colonel, they don’t realize that it’s not graceful but they don’t care. They just want to shower their humans with so much love.

Although Kate and her husband were not surprised by Colonel’s actions, they still thought maybe it’ll be different this time.

“I thought he was gonna join us and be chill and calm,” Kate told Inside Edition. “This is totally him and so perfect.”

Even the viewers agree.

“This will definitely be a lasting wedding memory! There will never be anyone more excited to see you than your dog!” Country Bird said.

And one viewer echoed what the dog trainer said.

“No dog trainer in the world can control a dog’s emotions. He will ALWAYS be overly excited when he sees his owners after a couple of hours of being apart,” they said.
