People who abuse animals really are the lowest of low. The fact that a human being could see an animal hungry, scared, or in pain and not feel any sort of compassion is really quite shocking, especially when the animal is in such a state because of the actions of that person.
When a dog was discovered lying in the driveway of her owner’s house in Oklahoma, rescuers expected her human to show some kind of remorse.
But shockingly she didn’t, and the team knew that the only chance the dog would have at a positive future was if they took her away.
Annie’s heartless owner had branded her pooch as ‘not worth it’ and essentially just left her to die. When the rescuers rushed her to get veterinary care, they discovered that the brave pooch was pregnant with ten puppies.
Sadly, Annie was too weak to give birth, and the puppies didn’t make it. She had wounds all over her body and was incredibly malnourished. In a post appealing for justice on their website, Pawsitive Restorations Animal Rescue said:
‘We now know that due to the extremely poor condition her body was in, Annie was in the middle of a late term miscarriage. Her emaciated, bacteria and infection ridden body simply could not carry the pregnancy any longer.’
The poor dog was one step away from death, but there was still hope.
The vet’s analysis showed that Annie was severely malnourished and dehydrated to the point where her internal organs were shutting down. The poor thing was also covered in hundreds of injuries, to the point where the vet said that he had never seen anything like Annie’s case – something which was reiterated by every doctor she has seen since.
But Annie was a fighter.
Time and time again she almost died, only to pull through like a trooper. Meanwhile, the person responsible for Annie’s condition was arrested not long after the pooch had been rescued. We don’t know much information about the arrest yet, but we do know that she was charged with animal cruelty.
Krissy Mosbarger, the president of the Pawsitive Restorations, felt a personal connection toward the sweet pup and decided to adopt Annie. She created Justice For Annie, a page in which she could share information about Annie’s horrific neglect and abuse, as well as appealing for money to help with her surgery bills.
“She is a survivor. She is a beautiful soul,” said Krissy. “She has been overlooked and let down, but she is not let down anymore.”
Annie is still on the road to recovery, and it’s vital that her rescue team receive as much help as possible when paying for veterinary bills, or Annie might not make it.
Appealing on their website, Krissy said:
‘MEDICAL BILLS ARE NOW OVER $17,300!! We need help to pay these bills, and the future bills yet to come! Annie’s care is nowhere near over, and her rehabilitation will likely be long-term.’
We’re so glad that Annie was given the opportunity to start her life over again, and we wish her all the best with her recovery. You can donate to Pawsitive Restoration to help fund Annie’s vet bills here.
