When it comes to furry companions, dogs are some of the sweetest and most loyal creatures on the planet.
Because humans and dogs have co-evolved together over thousands and thousands of years, it’s not hard to understand just how we can become so close to one another.
Although there are plenty of other animals you can bring into your home and love, many of them tend to kind of do their own thing once they’re there. Dogs, on the other hand, are so emotionally imprinted towards their humans that there’s no limit to the bond we can form with one another. It’s why they make such incredible friends.
And it’s also why it makes things so tragic when we hear about dogs who don’t have a home.
In a recent video out of Romania, that situation was painted all too clearly.
The clip shows a lone, white-haired dog wandering around near some train tracks. Although being a stray animal is dangerous regardless of the situation, it goes without saying that playing by the train tracks is a recipe for disaster.
Throughout the clip, the cameraperson tries to follow the dog at a safe distance without scaring it, though it was too dangerous to run directly up to him to save him.
After pursuing him for long enough, eventually the little pup started to trust the people and got a little closer.
Either because he was hungry or because he understood that they were just trying to help, the dog got close enough to rescue.
Needless to say, the people behind the camera had brought plenty of dog treats for the little guy! As he got closer, they noticed that he was limping and that he seemed to have an injury on or near his left eye.
After feeding the little pup, one of the women very carefully and slowly put a collar with a leash around the dog’s head and neck.
Once they had him safely under control, they took him to the local veterinarian right away.
After they looked him over, they saw that the dog actually did have a microchip!
Initially, they reached out to the dog’s owner to ask if he was lost. When the owner answered the phone, he said that he didn’t want the dog back and that someone else should take them.
Although it’s unclear exactly what happened, it seems likely that he was either abandoned by his owner or that he ran away from home. Regardless, he was found a full 10 miles from his previous owner’s house!
After speaking with the owner, they learned that the dog’s name was Bobi.
Bobi is nine years old and is actually blind in his left eye.
In any case, the people who found him got him washed and cleaned up and are keeping him safe while we waits to be adopted! Because he previously had an owner, he’s fully microchipped, neutered and vaccinated.
Although he’s still sad about what has happened to him, Bobi remains playful and silly even in his old age. Because Bobi is in his golden years, the Howl of a Dog shelter that took him in is looking for a permanent home for him where he can spend the rest of his life happy and loved.
As it turns out, the video was made as a kind of adoption advertisement!
Although being adopted by a Romanian family would be the simplest solution, the shelter is also open to international adoptions.
Needless to say, this story has a very tragic component to it. Still, it’s also a testament to just how loving and resilient dogs can be in the face of adversity. Although nobody wants to be abandoned or left on their own, Bobi was lucky enough to be found by some people who just wanted to love and care for him. After receiving that love, he was able to completely bounce back and keep living his life! Bobi’s strength should be an inspiration to us all.
We’re keeping our fingers crossed for you Bobi!
