We already know that dogs are incredible creatures. They’re smart, and they can be trained to do so many things. In some cases, they just teach themselves.
Since they are agile and able to do things that might be very difficult for us, why not teach them!
There are dogs doing things from sniffing out illnesses and drugs to jumping out of planes to help rescue people.
Here are 50 examples of dogs who are heroes, one way or the other.

This service dog brought his dad his emergency inhaler. He thought dad was hyperventilating, but dad was just laughing his head off.

It seems that not all jobs have wholesome jobs. This one is said to be working for the mob. Just kidding, of course.

4. Meet Morty.
Morty was deployed in Puerto Rico just after hurricane Maria. When he caught the scent of someone in need, he jumped 30 feet out of a helicopter.

If you’ve never seen a video game or CGI movie being developed, you might be wondering what you’re looking at. Uuno is on the set and ready to do his job.
6. Wow, I’ve never heard of this.
But since dogs can offer such comfort, it makes perfect sense. I’m sure it really helps the person who is testifying.

But I can understand it happening. Dog’s just want to please, and if they are doing that their tails will be wagging.

This is awesome. He is so very gentle but so intense at the same time. He is herding those ducks to water.

I wasn’t expecting that so I didn’t see the tutu right off. But this dog is the office greeter at someone’s work. How many visitors have heart failure when he jumps up to say hi?

A world where children need to be in court to testify. For something so bad or traumatizing they need a therapy dog there to offer comfort.
15. This is Thor.
Thor is a therapy dog and taking part in a study on the effect dogs have on the depressed. He is working with the patient he has been teamed with who is already feeling better.

Michael Hingson is a blind man who has a hero as a guide dog. Roselle led him and 30 others down 78 floors and out of the World Trade Center on 9//11.
17. He has done his duty.
This is Benny, and he is retiring. After years of being a therapy dog at a middle school, his health is forcing him to retire.

This is Jake, and he is a pup in training. He’s going to be a search and rescue avalanche dog.

There are some advantages to working from home. Especially when you get to spend the day with your pet, and your pet is award worthy.

Bill is the first service dog in Australia working with a patient who has Addison’s disease. He’s in training, and this is his first trip to the mall.

This dog was rescued from a flood in Mexico. He went on to be adopted and trained as a search and rescue dog.

Those aren’t sheep! But the dogs don’t seem to care and are doing their job protecting the penguins.

Look at this cute little guy. He’s so tiny but he has a big name tag and a big job to do.
37. Search and rescue.
This pupper is in training as an avalanche search and rescue dog. Watch him attempt to pull the buried person out.
38. First mate.
This is Ruca, and I think this is a coast guard craft. She goes out on every call to assist boaters who have run into trouble.
39. Lifeguards
These beauties are lifeguard dogs in Croatia. There needs to be a movie about this. Air Bud: Beach Pawtrol.
40. Play time is for zoomies!
Even police dogs deserve some play time. And he still obeyed—when play time started and when it finished.

He seems to be hoarding some toys under the desk. And he was quite concerned that one of the officers was going to steal him baby.

She is the only US Air Force Search and Rescue dog. And she skydives with her partner!
43. This is Buffy.
Buffy the Coyote Slayer. Her job is to protect the herd on the farm, and she did her job. She had to take down a coyote that was after them.

Spencer is at the sidelines of the Boston Marathon. And it looks like a little rain isn’t going to stop him from cheering on the runners.

This is Frannie, and her dad is a lawyer. He has trained her to deliver documents to other lawyers at his office. She gets paid in milk bones.
50. She trained herself.
This is Crumpet. She has no official training as a service dog, but quickly learned the signs of her owner’s oncoming seizures. She now barks at her owner to alert her beforehand. What an awesome girl!
