What with coronavirus and a seemingly never-ending lockdown happening right now, it’s safe of us to assume that all of us are having a few more bad days than usual at the minute.
It’s natural for us to feel more worried or anxious during these times, therefore here at Animal Channel we decided that we all need a bit of a pick-me-up. And what better way to boost our moods than with pictures of baby highland cows?
If you’ve never seen a highland cow before, then brace yourself, because they’re so darn cute.
1) *Blep*
Forget dogs — we now want a Scottish Highland cow as a pet. Have you ever seen anything sweeter than this little guy? We had no idea that cows could be so soft and fluffy!
Are you cheered up yet? We bet you’re smiling already.
2) Bringing The Sass
This pic gives us memories of when we were younger and our mom took us to the theme park and tried to get us on all the big rides.
“I’m tall enough, I swear!”
With a face this cute, we’d give this little guy anything he wanted.
3) “I’ll Take One Of Each”
Who knew that highland cows come in a whole selection of different colors? We thought we loved the brown guys, but now we’d like one in every color please.
A cuddly little cow for each day of the week sounds like our idea of heaven!
4) “What Are You Looking At?”
This pic takes us back to our high school days, when that one kid opened up their chewing gum and the rest of the class stares at them like this.
We’re sure this little guy’s puppy dog eyes are persuasive enough to get him anything that he wants.
5) “It’s Hard Work Being This Cute”
As if she wasn’t sweet enough already, this little cutie’s name is Marmalade! We couldn’t think of anything more fitting. Her little fuzzy ears, tiny hooves, and soft leather nose, there’s so much hug potential in one photo. Who even knew cows could be this cute?
6) A Compact Donkey
This little guy has the softest-looking fur we’ve ever seen. Considering he spends all of his days outside in a field, battling the wind and rain that comes with living in Scotland, this Highland calf is looking effortlessly immaculate.
Now we don’t mean to pry, but what conditioner does he use?
7) Cuddles With My Human
So you’re telling me that not only are highland calves some of the cutest animals that we’ve ever seen, but they’re also totally affectionate and love cuddling up with humans? We’d give anything to trade places with this lucky guy right now. Just look at that happy little face!
8) An Overgrown Teddy Bear
This little cutie is part Highland cow- part Wookie- part teddy bear, and we just want to cuddle up with him all day! We also can’t quite get over how huge Highland calves can be. If this little guy is only a baby, then what on earth is he going to look like as an adult?
As they’re so adorable, somehow a giant highland cow doesn’t seem too bad to us.
9) “Take It Again, I Wasn’t Ready!”
This little fluff ball was just enjoying a spot of grass when he was caught totally unawares for a photograph. Just look at that little pink tongue!
If he can’t persuade the photographer to take another pic, then we’re sure mom and her horns might be able to provide a little more encouragement.
10) Rock-A-Bye Baby
Why are we suddenly feeling like “sorry I couldn’t come out, I was taking a nap with my cow,” is one of the best excuses in the world? We can’t think of anything more comfortable than snuggling down with our very own pet cow and forgetting all about life’s problems. Do they offer these cuties for therapy?
11) “Give Us A Kiss”
This calf has the exact expression of one of those little kids who bugs you for food and watches your every mouthful. We’re kind of impressed that he can touch his nose with his tongue, though — what a party trick! This cow is more talented than us.
12) Mom > The Ground
This little calf has got it all figured out. If she sits on mom’s back, not only does she get a comfy place to lie but she also gets free rides wherever she fancies. The only thing missing is the steering… she can’t quite reach the handlebars.
13) First Time In The Snow
One of the reasons that Highland cows are so darn fluffy is so that they can live comfortably in cold weather, and that includes snow! This calf looks like she’s having a whale of a time as she frolics around in the snow. Just so long as she can get those back legs under control!
“Brakes, now where are the darn brakes?”
14) Isolation Hair Be Like
Now that all of the barbers are currently shut, those with short hair either have two options: learn how to cut hair themselves or to just leave it alone and accept the growth.
This Highland calf has clearly gone for option number two — either that or he’s opted for a bowl-cut. We wish our lockdown haircuts were looking as cute as this!
15) When Someone Touches Your Neck
Highland calves might be fluffy and cute, but this guy is on a mission to be like one of the adults, and first he must prove just how fierce he really is. Either that, or he’s just partaking in a particularly intense morning stretch.
“Look mom, I can be big and scary too!”
16) When Your Hair Just Won’t Go Right
You’ve spent the last hour trying to perfect your hair into the perfect comb-over, but it’s just not sitting right.
Your friend is asking if you’re ready to leave and you’re staring into the mirror whilst wondering if it’s possible for the an emo side-fringe to suddenly make an on-trend appearance again.
17) Dinner Time
This calf looks like she’s experiencing total bliss in one big bottle. We’ve never seen somebody look so contented with their dinner!
“Wow, that’s some good milk… where’d ya buy it?”
18) “Run, Forrest, Run!”
This calf is going on an adventure, and we’re all invited! We can’t get over how he’s literally skipping down the path — he seems to be simply brimming with joy. Boing, boing, boing.
We didn’t know there were wild hovercalves in Scotland.
19) “I’m The King Of The Castle…”
This calf may be small, but he owns his own kingdom and we’re all expected to bow down to his every need. More milk? Of course. Cuddles? Naturally. A bigger barn to sleep in? We’re on it.
20) A Levitating Moo
This photographer has captured a very rare and elusive sight: the hover cow. This phenomenon is hardly ever photographed and only occurs once every five years, when Jupiter is passing Saturn. Share for good luck.
21) Cuddles With Mom
Mom wants nothing more than to cuddle her baby, but this little guy is much more intent on snapping his new profile picture — and he can’t have his mom cramping his style!
When you’re that cuddly and cute looking, we can’t exactly blame mom!
22) Hide And Seek
This stealthy calf is clearly under the impression that if his body is hidden, then his face must be too.
In fact, he’s actually pretty confused right now as to why somebody is taking photographs. Who wants some pics of a boring old pile of hay?
23) Magical Galaxy Cows
New: Galaxy cows! Also comes in two different shades!
If you’re looking for a deluxe pet, then look no further. These cuties are flecked with stars from outer space and petting one will bring you seven years of good luck.
24) Flower Child
If this cow isn’t called Daisy, then what’s even the point anymore? This beautiful girl can take a better photograph than us, and doesn’t seem at all camera-shy.
Work those angles, Daisy! Where’s the modelling contract at?
25) “Can’t Stop… Places To Be.”
When you’ve just made it to work and you realize you’ve left your hair straighteners on at home… Time for a speedy turnaround! This calf looks like she’s got one hundred and one places to be and there’s no time for dawdling.
26) Milk Drunk
When the milk is just so tasty, who cares if a little bit of it dribbles down your chin? This pampered calf is even wearing a diaper — so we’re almost certain that her owner will be more than happy to help clean up her face! Now this is the kind of baby that we’d be interested in, please.
27) Morning Bath Time
This calf thinks he’s way too grown up for being cleaned — but that won’t stop mom from fussing! “Please mom, not in front of the camera.”
28) “One Day I’ll Have Cool Horns Like You!”
This calf thinks that his mom makes a brilliant headrest — meanwhile mom just wants five minute’s peace and quiet so that she can enjoy eating her hay.
“Run along and play now, son.”
29) “Do You Reckon I Fit In?”
Just in case anyone tries to cross this cute little guy, his bodyguards will make sure that no harm will come his way! Cuddly as they look, we’re not sure we’d want to get in the way of those horns. We’ll just watch from afar!
30) Shake, Cattle, and Roll
Why do we feel like this calf is a reincarnation of Elvis? Maybe it’s the wild hair or that cheeky impression, but we seriously think that this could be a famous cow.
31) My Dad Is Bigger Than Your Dad
This is definitely a case of, “Oh yeah? Come say that to me now!”
Imagine visiting your girlfriend’s dad for the first time and this is what he looked like? This guy is a confusing mix between soft fur and fur-ocious horns and we’re not sure whether we want to pet him or run away. Do you think he can see out from under that comb-over?
32) Mama Fluff And Baby Fluff
Having such large horns must feel heavy, so we don’t blame this mama for using the soft back of her calf as a chin rest every so often! Heck, we’d cuddle up with him all day if we could.
33) Highland Calves: Cheeto Edition
Who knew calves could be so radiant and glowing? Once again, we’re getting total hair envy over a highland cow. BRB, just printing a pic of this luscious barnet to take to our hairdresser…
34) Mirror Image
Forget hair envy, these little cuties are sharing a loving moment together but all we can look at is those eyelashes! How did they grow so long? Did they use some kind of special cream? We need answers!
35) Cow Or Dog?
Let this picture remind you that Highland calves are really just overgrown dogs. Not even out pet cat will let our little ones cuddle up to them like this, but this calf is so calm-natured that he seems to be actually enjoying it! Can we trade places with the child? Thanks.
36) Snapchat Calf
Who said Snapchat filters are just for humans? This calf is looking prettier than most of us with her very own love-heart tiara. New profile pic material? We think so.
37) Best Buddies
Forget family photos, the only pic we’d want to get framed is this adorable one. It’s clear to see that this little girl and her calf have the best relationship — and can we talk about how gorgeous her hair is? She’s like a real life Rapunzel!
38) “Move Out Of The Way, Child”
Today was the day that this calf learned how to master the art of photobombing, and we think it was a great success (or could we say, very a-moo-sing). Mom, on the other hand, doesn’t look too impressed.
39) “This Is My Best Side!”
This tiny guy looks like he’s just been introduced to the big field for the first time, and he’s feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all. If he sits here for long enough, mom is sure to find him and then he will be safe again.
40) “Gerroff”
What is it with moms these days who seem determined to cramp their little ones’ style? This stroppy guy is a strong, independent Highland calf who doesn’t need his mama. Apart from when it’s dinner time, of course.
41) “Did Someone Say Milk?”
This is the exact expression that comes onto our faces when we see the waiter approaching with our food. Though we’re not quite sure we pull it off quite as cute as this little guy! Just look at that little pink tongue.
42) Hide And Seek
She might only be a calf, but this little one looks as if she’s pondering life’s biggest questions right now.
“How come when I eat the grass, it just comes right back again?”
“Why am I so fluffy compared to regular cows?”
“How is it possible for me to be this cute?”
43) Highland Calf Or Mr President?
We’ve now found out where Donald Trump gets his hair inspiration from — Highland cows of course! We can’t say that we blame him to be honest. What a barnet!
44) “Left A Bit… Perfect”
Highland calves get itches like the rest of us, and what better way to scratch an itch than to use mom’s head? Highland cows aren’t just a pretty face, you know.
45) “Look At My Tongue”
Before today, we never even contemplated the fact that cows have tongues, but after seeing all of these adorable pics, we just can’t get enough! Who knew that highland calves liked sticking out their tongues so much?
46) Mini-Me
Isn’t this just the most adorable family photo you’ve ever seen? Both momma and calf look so proud to be standing next to each other. The calf is doing a great job of keeping still and looking at the camera too — mom obviously raised him well.
47) “Let’s Get You Scrubbed Up”
We have to say, mom is doing a great job of grooming her little one — he looks beautifully clean! We’re getting total hair envy again with mom as well. Surely she didn’t wake up like that?
48) “Welcome To The World, Little Fluff”
Either this calf is a newborn, or he’s been rolling around in some serious mud.
“I told you not to go in those puddles, son!”
49) Slurp
There’s not much that will get between an animal and their food, and this little calf is no exception. Who cares if there’s a camera pointing at him? He just wants his milk!
50) Nap Time
This cute pic is an exact replica of when we’re hot in bed but we still want to cuddle our boyfriend. “Babe can you get off my head?”
