We love our pets to the moon and back, we would do anything for them! But we can’t pretend living with them is always a breeze. They’re basically perpetual babies who don’t listen (cat, I’m talking to you) and love getting into trouble. The innovative ways they come up with to make a mess are endless.
Carpets, curtains, couches and christmas trees get destroyed. Toilet paper somehow gets shredded and spread all over the house. Food and shoes go missing before turning up in pieces. Vases and cups are knocked off counters while your pet is making bold, direct eye contact with you.
Alas, they’re so cute that we forgive them every time. But being a pet owner requires a lot of patience. Here are just some examples.
1) This feline physicist
Honestly I’m impressed by how precisely this fur ball was able to bring a bowl to the perfect teetering point on the counter. But of course, they can never leave well enough alone and had to make a mess. And judging by the camera placement… this isn’t the first time it’s happened!
2) Taco cat
Fun fact: did you know taco cat spelled backwards is still taco cat? Coincidence? I think not.
This taco cat is giving a new meaning to the term after finding a way to steal food even while wearing a cone. It must have made a mess, but you have to admit, it’s pretty clever.
3) No cake is safe
Unfortunately, as pet owners, we have to accept some truths. one of those truths is that your food is never really and truly safe. Not even on top of a vending machine. Hopefully the cake still tasted good!
4) Heeeeeere’s Doggy!
Who needs just one doggy door? Not this guy. He felt he needed two. And look at how proud he is of his work! Pretty hard to stay mad at this one. But doors are not cheap.
5) There’s no such thing as personal space
This seems like it has the potential to be a dangerous game when you go to pull your pants up, yikes! But how can you say no? He looks so cozy.
6) Always in our thoughts
Whether they’re sitting on our laptops, blocking the pages of our books, or, apparently, blocking the TV, it seems our cats just can’t let us focus our attention on anything else. And it takes a lot of commitment. This doesn’t look very comfortable, but he wants to make sure his humans can see him, I guess!
7) Caught red-pawed
This little one looks so guilty! Almost as if she’s been told to stop doing that 100 times before. Hmm, curious.
One of the downsides to being a pet-parent is knowing and anticipating the need to buy new furniture. A lot of new furniture.
8) This cat with a drinking problem
Imagine having to clean not just the kitchen, but also your cat after giving it a little treat? Surely this is the case even when the cat is drinking water so it would be a constant clean up mission. That’s unconditional love.
9) The fridge thief
This little thief is risking his paw to steal some food from the fridge! Not only is he being a jerk for trying to sneak his way into the fridge… he’s also giving his owners anxiety! These very patient owners are dealing with it as best they can.
10) Maybe try hardwood this time
This patient owner knows how to look on the bright side, and decided to use this opportunity to invest in new flooring. I sincerely hope they didn’t get another carpet! This little monster looks determined.
11) A crafty pup
Usually it’s cats we see that can’t help but make a mess of yarn balls. But don’t be fooled – this little guy is proof that pups can be mischievous too! It will require some patience from the owner to re-roll all these balls of yarn. Best of luck!
12) Lights, for me?
Forget the cute DIY design inspiration your found on Pinterest. If you have a cat, it will never work. It’s like they see hanging lights as a challenge they can’t help but accept.
But can you blame them? Lights are so sparkly!
13) They’re not always good with selfies
It must have taken her 100 attempts to get the perfect photo – if she ever got one at all! It’s beautiful how much our dogs just want to love and kiss us all the time but oh man. Sometimes they need to chill.
14) He (literally) doesn’t see the problem
I love the pet way of thinking: if I just don’t look at it, they won’t know it was me.
He must not have liked the ham very much because it seems like he gave up pretty quickly once he got in there. The bottom three are probably still useable, right?
15) If it I can sits, I sits
Most pets prefer to get cozy in a lap, but not this little one! She has no concept of appropriate sitting (or butthole placement) boundaries and honestly, I love it. It looks like at least one of her owners agrees with me!
16) Toilet paper is too precious for this
It has always been a headache. But these days, there is no way you’d be letting your cat get into the toilet paper! These owners have had to keep all of their toilet paper in a closed cabinet to keep their little monster from tearing it up.
17) This could only have ended badly
Cats just can’t help themselves! It’s like anything that moves is now a toy, and fair game. And this little tabby definitely understands what his owner is trying to communicate, and thinks pulling a cute little face will help. (And okay, it did a little.)
But I can only imagine how this turned out in the end. solid light fixtures only, going forward.
18) He’s sick of his human working from home
This guy kinda looks like he’s just had a hard day at the office… but I think it’s more likely he’s over the fact that his human is home 24/7.
If he can’t do his work, maybe he’ll go back to his office and I can get some peace and quiet.
19) Hope you’re not late for work
It’s a valiant effort on the little kitty’s part! She knows you bring that bag with you to leave every day, and she must be curious about where you go. While it’s not sneak enough to work, you’ve gotta give her points for trying!
20) Why do we bother?
This bed probably cost $1,000. It’s made with the highest quality Eyptian cotton. Rare baby pheasant feathers. Gold detailing. It’s probably heated.
But no, he prefers the floor.
21) It’s the pot’s fault!
This fur ball isn’t even showing an ounce of remorse! He’s in full on destruction mode and is basking in the results of his work. If you’re a pet owner, you have to accept that there will be a few plant pot casualties.
22) Revenge pups
“I didn’t give my dogs a treat and they got revenge.”
We all think we’re the ones in charge but every now and then our pets will do something to show us just how wrong we are. This destroyed remote control will probably make this dog-owner think twice about withholding treats again!
23) A double whammy
Ah yes. Ruining the blinds and window netting isn’t enough. He had to knock the plant pots over too! nd on carpet, no less. This is why we can’t have nice things.
24) No board games here
Want to play a board game with your kids? Good luck! Cats will sit absolutely anywhere and don’t mind if they’re blocking your view or disruption your play time.
Excuse me, this has gone on too long and I’ve had enough.
25) Hungry boi
Sleep? What is sleep? Pet owners don’t have that luxury! Pups are the priority and guess what – they’re always hungry!
26) Not eating, just smooshing
I feel like I would be less angry about the cat stealing the pizza to eat it. But just to sit on the box and ruin it for no good reason at all? It’s a tragedy. But cats will just sit anywhere that suits them. They love a card board box and they love warm spaces. So in theory, the pizza box is the perfect spot.
27) Oh yikes, sticky situation
How and why do our pets get into things not meant for them? This once-fluffy shitzu decided the sticky fly trap would make a great toy, and now he’s in a pickle! Hopefully he’ll think twice about it next time but… I’m not making any bets.
28) They get jealous of babies
For pet owners with children, the patience required is on another level. And trying to get them to do things together? Unpredictable. Just look at this furry boy who can’t bare to share the spotlight for the camera.
Baby? What baby?
29) Love can be suffocating
The innocence in this big guy’s eyes is precious, but his feline friend… well, not so much. As their owner, it must be pretty time consuming to constantly be checking in to make sure the cat can still breathe. But the pup has the best of intentions!
30) I’m worried this cat thinks it’s a chicken
There must be tons of other cozy places to sit. Couches, beds, surely some cat-specific sitting spots. But no. It’s gotta be the kitchen, on top of a bunch of eggs. That’s THE spot.
31) A great spot for a bath
I sincerely hope this cat owner wasn’t trying to eat lunch at his desk today. This would be a little… uhh… off putting, to say the least. Literally anywhere else in the house would have been fine little buddy!
32) The light of your life
You can’t leave this guy alone for 2 seconds! This lamp never hurt anybody – it was just minding its own business. And yet, here we’ve got this mischievous little monster leaping up just to tear it down. It’s impressive, but also a pain in the neck!
33) Cuddle time is over
That kid just wants to give his pup all the love and affection any dog could want. He’s really doing his best. And yet, this furry guy is not having any of it.
34) He doesn’t like his new diet
And it doesn’t look like he found was he was looking for in the trash, either! But I think we can all relate to these emotions when trying a new diet though, right?
35) Not a fan of the couch
He could have just said something. He didn’t have to chew the couch into oblivion! Surely it’s risky to even get a new couch in case he doesn’t like that one either! What a wild pup.
36) Just… why?
It could be worse. He could be digging up the garden and ruining all the plants. But also he could just refrain from digging at all. And it just seems like so much effort to go through to get into that plant pot. So I’m not sure what to feel about this one. It’s certainly interesting.
37) This face-eating demon
I would not cross this dog. The choices he’s made here are concerning and not worth questioning. Just do as he says, give him his treats, pet him when he asks, and maybe even cook him a steak for dinner to remind him you’re one of the good guys. You wouldn’t want to end up like that doll!
38) You weren’t reading that, were you?
Paper doesn’t taste good. Books aren’t fun to play with. So there’s almost zero reason behind why a dog would want to tear a book apart. But these little monsters do it anyway!
39) Not the litter box!
Cleaning the litter box is bad enough as it is. It’s one of the only downsides to having a pet. But it’s perpetuated ten times over when the litter is not contained to the litter box. What and how could a cat even do this?!
40) The one true ruler
What is it about cats that they simply can’t leave us be? They’ll turn anything into a toy if it means getting some affection. Just like this little guy’s who’s decided that the ruler was getting too much attention so he had to assert his dominance.
Good luck to the owner who’s just trying to do their homework! No schooling can teach this kind of patience.
So if you thought your crazy pet was bad, just be thankful it hasn’t done any (or all) of these things! Though, who knows, maybe they already have.
Just remember… patience is a virtue and they’re so cute when they’re sleeping!
