Let’s face it, animals are often outright weird, and that’s why we love them so much. How often have you seen your dog do something dorky, or your cat act totally extra? We be the first thing you did was pull put your camera, right? It makes us happy that so many people have documented their pet’s quirkiness on camera, and to give you something to smile about, we’ve put together a list of 40 animals who can’t act like normal pets for even one day.
1. “Pretty please?”
Everyone, we’d like to introduce to you the real-life Puss in Boots. Those big green puppy dog eyes and clasped paws are so adorable that we’d have no choice but to give him whatever he wants! What a little cutie pie.
2. “What’s so funny?”
When this dog was caught stealing a paci, he expected that he would be in grave trouble. So he can’t understand why everyone is laughing at him. “Don’t laugh at me! I stole this, I’m a bad boy!”
3. “My mom didn’t believe me when I tried to explain how odd our newest rescue is.”
It seems like mom has had a sudden hilarious reality check after meeting her daughter’s rescue cat for the first time. How is this even a comfortable spot to sit in? Cats are so weird.
4. “Fell asleep on the floor, woke up to…”
In all honesty, we couldn’t imagine a better view to wake up to- though we could go without the drool. Despite animals sleeping throughout the day, they often seem totally confused when us humans try and do the same thing. “Do you wanna play now?”
5. “Just bought a new cat bed. That’s not how you use it, sweetie.”
You know what cats are like for sleeping in the most uncomfortable positions. If you buy a cat a new bed, they’re more likely to sit in the box it came in. The more you try and show them how to sleep in the bed, the more they’ll go out of their way to do the exact opposite.
6. Water for your pets
In all fairness, this dog isn’t exactly breaking any rules per se. The sign clearly states that the water is for pets- and there are no guidelines on what the pets should do with the water. Admittedly though, from the look on the dog’s face, it appears that he instantly regretted his decision.
7. “Opie dragged his bed and blanket across the house and then sat like this for 25 minutes while we ate dinner.”
There’s nothing dogs hate more than 1. not being the center of attention and 2. not being allowed to share their human’s dinner. We love the silent peaceful protest this dog gave to get his point across. Just look at that little sneer.
8. “My mom’s cat is such a derp. Always sits like this and keeps an eye on you.”
Anyone who owns a ragdoll knows that derpiness is fairly common for this breed of cat. Ragdolls are often compared to dogs in that they’re loving, silly, and sometimes clingy. Oh, and did we mention that they’re silly?
9. “Our sweet angel sleeping softly in the car.”
Dogs are such beautiful creatures, with their sleek, glossy fur and their big brown eyes. But dogs can also be some of the biggest goofballs around, and they’re not afraid of making a fool out of themselves. This must have been a comfortable spot, so hey, we can’t judge.
10. “Just walking my plant.”
A walking plant, did you say? Never in our lives have we seen a moving plant before, so this is pretty extraordinary. We hope it’s fed and watered a lot!
11. “I send him to daycare just for him to hold hands with the employees all day.”
As well as giving you time to get on with your day, daycare is a great opportunity for dogs to mix with others and improve their socialization skills. Most dogs are pretty friendly, but just like kids, there’s always going to be the shy few. We just want to give him a big cuddle!
12. “Welcome to Wendy’s!”
This dog looks as confused about her new hairstyle as we are, and her face just makes the picture even more hilarious. “Human, what on earth have you put on my head?”
13. “It’s impossible to work like this.”
Pets seem to have a thing about us getting work done- and it’s something more and more of us have begun to notice as we switch to working from home. Our pets never seem to want attention until the laptops and notepads are out, then suddenly, they become the most loving we’ve ever seen them. It usually works, though.
14. “He likes to suck on his foot before bed.”
Babies suck their thumbs to soothe themselves, so we can’t entirely blame this dog for putting his whole paw in his mouth before bedtime. It looks hilariously adorable, and we just want to give him a big cuddle.
15. “My favorite pic of my pug. There is no hole in the grass.”
Pugs are known for their trademark flat face-that-looks-like-its-been-hit-with-a-shovel kind of aesthetic, but even we had to do a double-take when we learned that there was no hole in the ground. Is a pug’s face really that flat? Is he okay??
16. “The cat is beyond caring about appearances.”
This cat looks like us at 5 pm on a Friday. Are we aware that we look utterly ridiculous? Yes. Do we give a hoot what people think of us? Absolutely not?
17. “My roommate’s puppy discovered mirrors and now he won’t look directly at me.”
This dog had realized that he can make himself look gothic and mysterious just be staring into the mirror. In reality, he’s simply staring into a reflective piece of glass, but in his head, he’s in a music video. Possibly a Lana Del Rey one.
18. “I look over and see this goblin staring at me.”
Ahh, is there anything more amusing than an overbite on a dog? We think not. Just look at those cute little teefies.
19. “This is my cat Lorbus trying to eat a metal chair.”
It’s been two hours, sixteen minutes, and fifty-three seconds since your owners last fed you, and desperate times call for desperate measures. The chair might not be the tastiest thing in the world, but maybe it will get across to this cat’s owners just how starving hungry he is. Cats are such drama queens.
20. “All I wanted was a nice photo of my cat.”
Some people think cats are boring, dignified creatures, but in actual fact, they can be even derpier than dogs. “Excuse me sir, but I think your cat is broken.”
21. “I was trying to enjoy a nice bath but…”
Some dogs just have to be a part of everything you do. They may not even like the bath that much, but if you’re going in, then so are they.
“Can we talk?”
“Ah, can we do it after I take my bath?”
“No, we need to talk now. About that new dog food…..”
22. Dogception

23. Spoiled pupper
This dog is clearly used to being the baby of her house, with her owner explaining, “So I walked into the great room and found my dog like this. This isn’t staged… she did this herself. Clearly, she’s learned from the master… me.”
24. The great escape
Apparently, this all happened at a dog grooming spa, and we’re not particularly surprised that these two dogs are trying to make their escape. “Shh, Penny, I’m getting us out- just don’t let them see you…OMG! RUN!!!!!!”
25. He thinks he has to wait in line to get a treat
Dogs are always eager to please, and this sweet pooch thought that the polite thing to do was to wait in line for his treat. 5 hours later, he’s still wondering why the queue hasn’t moved at all. These people are slow!
26. How my sister’s cat sits
When your scratching post doubles as a nice little stool, why not make the most of it? This cat has mastered the art of sitting like a human, and you bet he’s proud of himself. They’re evolving- it’s happening!
27. Walked in and discovered this
Cats are always getting themselves into tricky situations and then trying to act natural about it. This kitty is once again proving that cats are made out of 90% liquid. Need a hand there pal?
28. Cat splat
What should you do when you want to eat your dinner but you’re terrified of other people stealing your food? Kitty starfish, of course! What a mucky pup.
29. How precious
This kitty saw her human siblings playing on the rocking horse, and now she fancies a turn! Apparently, she meows until you rock her, and she’s got pretty good at sitting like a human. Cute, but a little creepy if you ask us.
30. Just a cat sitting on some stairs
This cat must have been a model in a previous life because she knows exactly how to work those angles. Such beauty! We’ve just got word that she’s actually modeling for America’s next top cat.
31. My friend’s dog is adorably stupid
Is it possible to look at this picture and not laugh? We think not. In fact, if you’re feeling blue, we recommend that you do this before going to bed every night and you’ll be sure to wake up with a smile on your face in the morning.

Either this dog is broken, or he needs an exorcist- and neither are ideal situations. Have you tried turning him off and back on again? Maybe that will work.

The fact of the matter is, sometimes we get a cold butt- and if there’s a lovely warming fire close by, then why the heck not? The thing we love most is the expression of concentration on this dog’s face. Let’s just hope he doesn’t let one go.

Everyone who owns a cat knows that they need to be a part of everything, especially when you’re doing the most fiddliest, trickiest, stress-inducing jobs of all. They usually make your job ten times harder, but they always mean well. What a little handycat.

When cats have the choice between two or three comfy spots, what on earth possesses them to sleep in places like this? We can’t even sleep with one leg hanging off the bed, but cats are just something else. Truly remarkable.

This cat is either checking his teeth after a big dinner or plotting world domination- there’s no in-between. “Got to practice my friendliest face so on one.. two.. three… there that should do it.” We think he looks charming.

This cat is a whole lockdown mood and is a perfect representation of all of us who are feeling pretty done with life right now. Or you never know, maybe he’s just smelling the carpet.
