If you are an owner of a furry friend, you know just how much their companionship impacts our lives. The bond can be so powerful that scientists have done studies to investigate just how big of an impact they truly have on us.
Harvard Health even took the time to write an entire blog about it sharing,
“Several studies have shown that dog owners have lower blood pressure than non-owners — probably because their pets have a calming effect on them and because dog owners tend to get more exercise. The power of touch also appears to be an important part of this “pet effect.” Several studies show that blood pressure goes down when a person pets a dog.”
The bond we share with our pets has proven in study after study that they have the ability to relieve stress, release dopamine, oxytocin, prolactin, and having a pet can even lower blood pressure and increase your lifespan! So, look through these 35 overwhelmingly cute photos of dogs and cats and feel your mood begin to change.
After running around all morning Stella, the cat, finally decided it was time to find a comfy spot to lay down for a nap. Luckily she has her dog sibling to cuddle up to who was already tuckered out in snooze position. Nap times are just better together.
When these owners adopted their new kitten they weren’t sure how their dog Pinot would react. But as you can see from this photo Pinto couldn’t be happier to have a new little friend. Especially one with who she can cuddle. Like we just said nap time is just better with a cuddle buddy.
This might just be
aww overload! This picture of these two new moms supporting one another as their babies feed may just be too much to bear. We can only imagine what playtime is like in this house.
4. Finally Warming Up To Each Other
Although overwhelmingly cute in photos in real life when introducing dogs and cats to one another it can oftentimes be just the opposite. Sometimes the cuteness does not happen immediately and takes time for the animals to adjust. For these two the owners write it did take a few days to get acclimated to each other but now that they’ve bonded it’s for life.
5. Always Together, Even During Nap Time
Although overall dogs and cats tend to find joy in very different things one thing they can agree on is nap time. Not only on nap time in general but where the comfiest spots to rest are. These two seem to have agreed upon a super comfy spot and have entered into a deep sleep.
This is probably one of the most adorable cuddling photos we’ve seen. Just look at how gently the cat is resting its head on the back of the dog! Such adorable besties and a true picture of pure love.
7. Cats Really Love The New Pup
Similar to when Pinot’s owners were nervous to see how their dog would adjust to a new animal so were the owners of these two cats. From the looks of it, these cats have taken to the new puppy very quickly. Pictured here they are showing the new pup when and what nap time is like.
8. A Teddy Bear & Her New Kitten
This new kitten seems to be quite content with her new best friend Sammie. Who although looks a lot like a teddy bear also seems like a great protector. At first glance, you almost miss the tiny kitten tucked into her new guardian. We are sure there have been plenty more cute cuddle photo ops between these two.
But whatever you do, try to avoid disturbing nap time between two furry friends. Just look at the look this pup is giving! Not impressed.
Although Willow the cat loves every dog she meets her owner writes her favorite will always be her big brother Jack. Just look at how totally precious this snuggle sesh is. Even similar in coloring these two make the perfect siblings.
11. No Bond Like The One Between A Brother & Sister
Here we have Phoebe and Cletus enjoying their sibling nap time. Just look at how cute they are with their heads nuzzled next to each other. Such a sweet moment.
12. Loving Her New Kitten
As you can see here Maisie is really loving the new kitten. Tato the kitten only four weeks old here has found herself a mighty guardian and a comfy cuddle buddy. The owner also commented that Maisie would also be getting a new puppy soon as well,
“The older LGD’s (Maremmas and Great Pyrenees)teach the younger dogs how to do their job properly. It’s time for her to prepare the next generation. But she ADORES the kitten…”
Sometimes when you introduce new furry friends to one another it can take days to adjust to one another, or overtime they bond and become loving siblings or the older animal assumes the role of the parent. Here we see the latter as Kona has taken on the role of Momma for the new stray kitten her owners adopted. How sweet!
14. Perfect Resting Place
Tookie and Meowy perfectly intertwined snuggled up catching some Zs. Many times we see the opposite of the cat or kitten resting on the big dog but here we have a tiny Tookie resting comfy on big Meowy. Although the owner did update that this photo was from when Tookie was a little puppy and has since grown to be slightly bigger than Meowy.
Not only do they have a designated nap area but a designated nap time. Look how the one pitbull even places its arm over the cat! Then how the cat places its paws against the other dog’s paws. Once again we have cuteness overload!
Now this is the perfect picture of brotherly love. We aren’t sure if the cat likes what is actually going on here by the look on his face but he may just be lost in thought. His puppy brother although quite comfy still makes sure to check in to see if all is well.
17. Puppy Loves To Snuggle With The Older Cat
This new puppy seems to have taken quite quickly to the adult cat of the house. Finding a nice resting place on its fluffy back both looking pretty content. As they continue to grow up together the cat will probably begin to find comfy places to rest on the growing pup.
These two have quite the personalities we can tell by simply looking at this photo! The look on this dog’s face is the look of being caught doing something you aren’t supposed to be doing. We can only imagine the comedy these two bring living together in the same house.
These two are a top-notch security team even color-coordinated too! As the pup stands guard at the window the cat stands guard for the dog. Eyes on multiple angles is a great strategy for neighborhood watch.
Most times many of our pets just want to be close to us. Here we have one of many naps in the lap for years to come. Who needs a blanket when you have a cat and a dog!
We aren’t really sure what is going on here but the owner’s caption for this photo is, ”
My derps” which says a lot in itself. We can’t help but wonder why these two derps are making this face…could something be potentially broken, eaten, or shredded only time will tell. One thing is for certain these two were made to be siblings.
22. Simply Obsessed With Each Other
Looks like these two are simply obsessed with each other and we are obsessed with them. A golden raising a tabby cat we cannot think of a better pair. From the looks of this picture, these two will only continue to grow to be best buddies.
Although cats and dogs may be “swore” enemies this slide show has proven completely different. However, when caught in the cuddling act the looks in their eyes tell a different story. One user,
commandstriphook, even commented what they might be thinking writing,
“It’s not what it looks like! We’re sworn enemies I swear! Enemies!”
There is truly nothing like waking up in the morning time when the sun is peaking through with two furry friends. Just look at these siblings! Basking in the warm sunlight while getting their last minutes of rest before the day.
We cannot tell which one this bed actually belongs to because it would fit both of them. And both munchkins seem to love the bed just look at the way the cat is laying over it. We hope they at least take turns.
26. New Dad Takes Care Of Foster Babies
We could stare at this photo all day. Just admiring how content and happy these three look. Dexter is doing a fantastic job at being a surrogate dad to their new foster babies.
27. Don’t Mind If I Just Lay Here
Of all the spaces to lay on this couch this pup chose one specific place to plop down…right on top of the cat! The owner writes at the time this photo was taken it was too smoky to go outside due to the wildfires so it’s probable the pup was protecting his family. Too cute!
Now this is the photo of one great babysitter! Tiny kittens just climbing all over yet the pup lays their calm letting the kittens be kittens. At least they are all staying in one place!
One of these things is not like the others! One pup amongst a whole gang of cats and it turns out he thinks he’s even one of them! His owner writes,
“He thinks he’s one of them. Sometimes prefers their food over his 😅😩”
30. Afternoons Like These
Another family writes that at first, they were worried about how the cat would adjust to the new puppy. But soon they came to see this is how they would spend their afternoons together. Almost like they were meant to find each other.
31. Captured A Romantic Moment
When you own both a cat and a dog the moments that you can capture are endless and infinite. One user,
feierfrosch, comments what could’ve potentially been going on in this photo writing,
“Dog: “hey cat, I love you and I’m happy we’re best buddies” – cat: “boop da snoot, thehehe”
32. Shibas Are Just Bigger Cats
Here we have a cat and a bigger cat. Also known as a Shiba. Which two users commented what these two could possibly be saying,
“Son, your mother and I would like to speak with you.” – CyberPunkButNotAPunk
“Don’t talk to me or my son ever again” – YouHadMeAtAloe
Caught cuddling again! As we’ve seen slide after slide throughout this there is nothing like the bond a cat and dog can have once they bond. Especially, once they become cuddle buddies. Just look at how content this cat looks!
34. Large Cat Versus Small Dog
Playful puppies make for an interesting add-on to a family that already has a cat. Just look at these two! Destined to be siblings with those big eyes and ears!
Imagine waking up to these two goofballs every morning. Faces smushed together just staring at you. Waking up each morning with love and giggles which we can’t think of a better way to wake up.
