The world is scary, and most of us might be going through some incredibly rough weeks. It pays to give yourself a break with some cute things. Life is best spent appreciating things that make you smile. So how about a nice little list to make that happen?

Seeing an adorable animal can be just the right sweetness when your day has been mostly sour.

1. The best homes are ones with pets that are happy to see you again.

My son always texts to say he’s on his way home. So I open the door, letting his 17 year old cat, and 16 year old doggo know that he’s on his way. This is them waiting for him. Though it was adorable, and wanted to share. from aww

A dog and a cat that loves you this much is a pretty stellar reason to want to come home every day. I don’t think I’d be able to spend a day away from them either. Plus, a cat and dog living over 15 years old are a pretty big deal too!

2. How to heal a mama dog’s broken heart.

This is Daisy. She lost all seven of her puppies when a fire broke out, and was obviously distraught and heartbroken. Daisy then received some foster puppies to care for, after her owners asked online if anyone had orphaned puppies they wanted to surrender. Daisy wasted no time and took care of them ASAP.

3. I wouldn’t have been able to resist either.

I rescued a stray cat in my neighborhood. At night his brother would come visit him. I really had no other options from aww

I can imagine that seeing a cat missing his brother would move anyone to do this. Plus, what could be better than one orange cat if not two of them?

4. You better not leave him again.

“I haven’t seen my dog in a few days, this was his reaction for 5 minutes straight.” – wrote the poster. It can be hard to be away from your best friend, but it makes reuniting feel so much more special.

5. One-sided love, unfortunately.

I think someone has a crush on my Christmas light decoration from aww

This fox seems a bit too interested in OP’s Christmas light decoration. When he bought this light-up fox for the holidays, I wonder if he ever counted on getting a real fox with it. Well, he’s got one now!

6. Please tell me she adopted the foal.

This mare lost her foal and then, two days later, this foal lost its mother. Here they are an hour after meeting. from pics

These two broken halves met and became whole again. It’s rather well-known that losing a baby or a mother is traumatizing even to many animals, so this scene is worth all the smiles and upvotes.

7. It doesn’t hurt to check on everyone.

Stray doggo interrupts street performance in Turkey to help the actor who was pretending to be hurt. What a pure heart. from aww

This actor was playing a man who’d been knocked off a horse and fallen unconscious. I think he played the part pretty well because this dog seems pretty convinced. Of course, the dog couldn’t stay long. A show was still going on!

8. The most adorable push towards recovery.

I’m recovering from anorexia but my cat stopped eating… Finally worked out that she will only eat when I do. A very good reason to keep eating ❤️ from MadeMeSmile

This person’s cat was behaving weirdly, until they figured out why. The cat only eats when they eat, and – in an adorable bit of fate – became the reason for this recovering anorexic to keep eating. What a heartwarming little story!

9. You can see the love on their faces!

Colorado man reunited with his donkey, Ennis, after fire swept through his town. from aww

Some embraces can feel extra warm and fuzzy when you’ve been through tough times. So I’m certain we can all feel what these two are feeling. And I sure hope he’s been able to recover too.

10. Hey, it means your house is romantic in a way.

Let’s keep being ourselves till the good things start coming from wholesomememes

After getting its wing fixed by OP, this pigeon brought his girlfriend to stay at his house. It looks like they have no intention of leaving either. I’m sure OP is flattered that they think his house is a romantic spot, but maybe he should start charging rent soon.

11. I guess it’s time to be a therapy dog, eh?

Rejected from police training for being ‘too friendly’. from aww

Being rejected for being “too friendly” is one of the best reasons to be rejected. As a matter of fact, that could be the only acceptable reason to ever get rejected from something. Hopefully this dog finds a new career where that friendliness will get to shine.

12. This vet clinic has a comfort-dog assistant.

Medical visits are scary to dogs too. Sometimes, the sight of medical equipment, white floors, and needles can get your anxiety pumped up really high. It helps to have someone standing by and showing you that it’s all gonna be okay. This dog right here makes the other dogs’ stay at the vet a lot less scary.

13. Feels nice, doesn’t it?

My foster dog had never been indoors before. This is her first nap, on a bed, in a home. ♥️ from aww

Adjusting to the cozy indoors when you’ve only ever been outdoors can be a huge change. This little princess here seems to enjoy that change very much. Of course, she’ll have to learn that bathroom business operates differently indoors.

14. Mission accomplished indeed.

My dad was dealing with a lot of stress, so we decided to get him a dog to see if it would help. Judging by the cuddle puddle, mission accomplished :) from MadeMeSmile

The best place to put all your worries is in a sweet, loving dog. Preferably with its paws wrapped around you. Best to do it on a comfy recliner too.

15. We’re so happy for him too!

My boy just had a successful surgery and is now cancer free from MadeMeSmile

Beating cancer is a cause for celebration, person or pet. A cancer surgery is a scary thing to sign up for, but this good boy made it through. Now he’ll get to see more doggy days without much more to worry about! I think he deserves a treat or two, no?

From big dogs to cats and pigeons, this list really took us everywhere. But when the world is filled with love and sweetness in even the smallest places, it’s worth looking in all those places.
