For pet owners, their pet is their family.

Knowing that, some people prepare for the worst by leaving their loved ones to the hands of those they trust.

Keeping a pet means adding another member to your family. They aren’t only supposed to be kept for specific purposes like guarding your home. The most important thing is that they are your family member.

That said, it’s natural to feel sad thinking that there comes a time when you’re the one who had to leave them behind. Thus, when this woman knew of her fate, she already had something prepared for her beloved pet dog.

This dog owner was struggling with a long battle with cancer.

Cancer is a disease that has taken millions of lives around the world. In fact, as of now, doctors and scientists only know some ways of how to prevent them but not entirely cure someone affected by it.

This dog named Shell was being taken care of by a cancer patient that had been battling it for many months. Assuming for the worst-case scenario, the woman wrote a letter in advance, addressing it to the Stray Rescue of St. Louise in Missouri.

The heartbreaking letter touched so many hearts.

The letter read:

“Dear Stray Rescue, I am writing you cause I need you to take my dog, Shell…I’ve been fighting cancer for a few months and if you’re reading this I lost my battle. I need for my baby girl to be taken care of in a home…These days all I do is worry about what’s going to happen to her. I love this girl, she is my daughter.”

Shell was left shaken, knowing that her owner already left.

The poor little dog must felt sad that her owner isn’t with her anymore. However, her mom wanted to make sure that she will have a good life even without her.

“She’s been through a lot so she has trouble with trust in the beginning,” Shell’s mom explained in the letter.

Despite that, she also claimed how Shell is a pretty sweet girl. Even though she doesn’t want to be carried, she still loves to be cuddled.

This touching letter helped them find a home for little Shell.

The shelter posted Shell’s tragic story on the internet, and with people’s concern and compassion, they were able to help spread this to others.

With the letter, they found a new home for Shell just a few days after she was brought to the shelter. It was a woman who tragically lost her adopted dog in July. She did not waste any time to fill an adoption application at Stray Rescue and met them already the next morning.

The happy ending we all are hoping for.

Shell and her new mom immediately got along pretty well, and it did not take long until they developed an inseparable bond.

It’s great that Stray Rescue was able to fulfill Shell’s previous owner her final wish. The once sad Shelly turned into a lively pup who loves to run around the house and is always spoiled with attention.
