However, they understand why their military family had to leave. What about dogs though? Do they understand why their humans have to leave them?

What do they feel when they are finally reunited with each other?

Some dogs are separated from their humans for months and even years. Their bonds are so strong though because even if they have been away from each other for so long, the dogs still recognize their humans.

Daddy was finally home!

She stood up on the porch, ran down the front steps, and straight into her dad’s arms, who couldn’t wait to be with her either.

She kept jumping up and down and up into his arms again.

Her dad couldn’t keep up with her excitement and energy. He tried to, though, because he always tried to catch her with a hug when she jumped back into his arms.

“Hey it may have only been 32 days to you, but for her it was a million trillion years. Dog time and human time is totally different,” Katrina Sengupta commented on the video.

He wanted to rub her belly but she had other ideas, too.

She wanted to keep hugging him and kissing him all at the same time.

“[She’s] a ball of happiness,” Matt Wolfram said.

How would you react if you had been away from your dog and you were finally reunited? Would you be like the dad or the dog?

Would you be unable to hide your excitement or jump up and down? Or will you be trying to simply hug the other to show how happy you are to be reunited?

Dogs don’t have a concept of time as humans do.

That’s why when dogs and their humans are reunited, even if it’s for a few minutes, a few hours, a few days, or a few weeks, they will always react as if you’ve been away for a long time.

This is one of the reasons why humans love dogs because they receive this unconditional love for them.

It doesn’t matter what their situations are, once the dogs have that special bond with humans, they will stay no matter what.

Did you know that dogs cry, too, when reunited with their humans?

That’s what researchers at the University of Japan found out.

“We found that dogs shed tears associated with positive emotions,” Takefumi Kikusui of Azabu University in Japan shared. “We also made the discovery of oxytocin as a possible mechanism underlying it. We had never heard of the discovery that animals shed tears in joyful situations, such as reuniting with their owners, and we were all excited that this would be a world first.”

Remind us to check our dogs’ eyes whenever we’re reunited after being away from them for some time.
