Do you have any pets? What is your relationship with them? Have you ever tried to train one? Nowadays, people can have some really “unconventional” and strange pets, from a tiger to a baby bear.
However, one of the weirdest animals to have ever seen as a “pet” is a pigeon.
We have probably associated these really cute birds with big squares where people usually spend hours feeding them seeds and bread crumbs. So, it can definitely come as a surprise seeing one of them adopted and treated like any other pet!
Today’s story is about a so well-behaved pigeon that will leave you with your mouth open. This white bird doesn’t only follow his mom’s instructions but he is trained to know when it’s time to go to bed!
As you can see in the video below, the pigeon not only knows when it’s time for bed but knows how to find his cage inside the closet.
According to Psychology Today, pigeons are extremely smart and they have an amazing memory, much like the elephants.
Bird lovers might know this but it could come as a surprise to the rest of us that apparently birds’ brains are quite similar proportionally to the ones of the primates, including apes, monkeys, and consequently humans. And it’s not only because of the intelligence they exhibit but their behavior too.
From what we can see in the video, the owner of the pigeon has created a room for the little bird inside a dark closet, wherein a traditional cage she put together what seems to be like a small “bed”, using little and snaggly cloths.
And this pigeon seems smart enough to know where to go to sleep, as you can see the cute bird actually goes on his bed in order to sleep. And boy, doesn’t he look comfy!
This isn’t the first time that we have seen pigeons kept as pets and develop a very close relationship with their owners. In the picture below you can see how this pigeon goes to bed every night next to its owner.
They definitely look so cute together! This right here is the friendship goals that all pet owners should strive for. It’s amazing to see the connection and the bond between the two and you can actually discern the affection in the pigeon’s eyes.
The trust built between the two can be what led to this close bond that they share and it’s so beautiful to see!
Thanks to these videos we can understand a bit more about birds and their “feelings”. Unlike the common belief that birds don’t have feelings or they cannot express their emotions through their behavior, we form a very different picture. These videos can show us that like many other animals, birds are capable of creating strong bonds with humans.
