Puppies are adorable creatures that are really good at melting hearts into puddles. They can make the toughest guy in the room say, “Aww,” – and cuddling one can turn a bad day upside down.

But let’s face it, puppies are also A LOT of work! They’re full of energy, not yet trained, and enjoy chewing on your favorite items. Regardless of how cute they are, sometimes we need them to just go to bed so we can relax too.

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could get your puppy to hit the hay with the snap of your fingers? Okay, fine, we’re not magicians. However, one man has a pretty amazing trick for helping his litter of pups drift off to dreamland.

In the video, there are five boxer puppies in an open crate. They’re whimpering and don’t seem 100% ready for sleep.

Just because the puppies still want to cuddle and play, doesn’t mean it’s going to get them out of bedtime.

The guy tells them, “Okay, let’s go to bed. Let’s go to bed.” The ones with their paws on the side sit back down, and they all look up at their dad. Perhaps they know what’s coming!

“Goodnite, Sweetheart, Goodnite…”

Singing a lullaby is a common way to get a baby or child to settle down and go to sleep. But it’s not every day that you see a man sing the classic song, “Goodnite, Sweetheart, Goodnite” to a litter of pups. Would it work though?

Only a moment after the guy begins crooning the lyrics there are incredible results. A puppy who’s sitting near the front of the crate walks to the back corner and gets comfy. At about the same time, the other white pup lays down too.

Two puppies down, three to go!

“Goodnite, Sweetheart, Goodnite” is a 1954 doo-wop song from The Spaniels. In the video, the man sings it slowly and with a deep, calming voice. Paired with the lyrics, it’s no wonder these puppies drop like flies!

He repeats the famous lines:

“Good night, sweetheart, well it’s time to go
I hate to leave you, but I really must say
Goodnight, sweetheart, good night”

It doesn’t take long for his “trick” to work on them all.

A mere seconds later the other three boxers start laying down, and it seems to be because of his soothing song. When it comes to singing a lullaby (to a baby), the Fatherly website suggests keeping it simple with repetitive melodies and words while using a “soft tone.”

Adorably, the puppies work to find the right sleeping positions and cuddle together in the crate.

Besides the footage being mindboggling to watch, it’s pretty darn cute too. How can you resist snuggling with these five pups?

After the man’s satisfied with getting the pups calm enough for sleep, the woman filming makes a comment that a lot of viewers would probably agree with. She says,

“I wouldn’t believe it if I hadn’t seen it.”

As a parent, sometimes you accidentally try and sneak away too soon when trying to put your little one to sleep. The guy in the video also has to return and sing a tiny bit more to the pups – but it works like magic! Shhh…
