Alaskan Malamute dogs are the best dogs to live with if you have children.

They are super affectionate and playful plus they’re loyal and intelligent. Most of all, they love small children.

Teddy, Niko, and Phil live with their humans, their two young children, and a cat. The three dogs and the cat lived with their humans before the babies.

So when their babies, Amelia and Nathan, arrived, the dogs were excited and curious to see these new humans.

Their first meeting was adorable.

A lot of people would be hesitant to introduce these big dogs to their newborn babies.

However, these dogs’ owners trained them well and they were able to show how excited they were to see the babies without hurting them.

When Teddy met Amelia, he must have thought Amelia was a weird-looking dog. He kept licking her cheeks, smelling her, and discovering Amelia.

Pretty soon, they were playing together, cuddling each other, and biting toys together.

They became fast friends.

In fact, they became best friends.

Teddy and Amelia learned to copy what the other one was doing. Teddy became Amelia’s pillow whenever she was lying down on the couch.

Teddy played together all the time. There was one time Amelia took Teddy’s tennis ball and hid it.

She ran around with the ball while Teddy chased her. She hid it but Teddy still found it.

Alaskan Malamutes are pack animals.

It’s a good thing the dogs had been trained early on and have recognized their humans as the leaders.

Because the dogs have recognized the humans as their leaders, they can be safe around the babies.

Case in point?

When they meet Amelia’s little brother, Nathan.

When Nathan arrived, Teddy was no longer a small puppy that was the same height as baby Amelia.

He was already a big Malamute, probably around 75 lbs. He could easily crush Nathan.

The human parents weren’t worried though because they have guided their dogs through every step.

The dogs were introduced one by one to the newborn baby.

The humans had clear instructions on how to greet the baby, which the dogs followed. When their humans told them not to do something, they didn’t do it.

They only acted when they were given the OK signal.

They were cautious and in love.

Slowly, the humans gave Teddy and the dogs more responsibilities regarding how to spend time with and take care of the babies.

They know how to rock the babies.

Their owner taught them how to use their paw to move the rocker for Nathan. He was always by Nathan’s foot, guarding while the baby slept.

Although Teddy can’t wait until Nathan is old enough to make Teddy his pillow.

Teddy was always there as well when Nathan needed someone to talk to, even though they both can’t talk.

What was your favorite of all of Teddy’s responsibilities with Amelia and Nathan?

Clearly, these two young children are blessed to be surrounded by so much love.

So many humans and dogs scramble to protect, watch, love, and care for them. They’re very blessed to have that already at such a young age.
