Like parents all over the world, this lion just wanted a few minutes away from the kids. Luckily, the kids ensured that that wouldn’t happen.
Yay, parenthood and all that. While every mom and dad knows that raising kids is all fun all the time, it’s only natural to want some privacy now and then.
This lion is one of them.
The conservationists at Serengeti National Park in Tanzania captured some footage of the dad and his cubs that is just a little too relatable.
The video begins with the lion walking away from his cubs. He thinks they are sleeping and so he can get away with a quick round of video games or hunting or whatever.
But the cubs notice immediately that their dad is not by their side. So they stir and look for him.
One by one, the four cubs get up and start following the father. They start whining out for their dad.
The dad looks back at his cubs and realizes that he won’t be getting any alone time today.
But then he makes one last bid for freedom. He leaps away from the kids, hoping that they’ll get the hint that they aren’t welcome on this journey.
The cubs all chase after their father again, desperate to be involved in his business.
Third time’s the charm, the dad thinks, and he sprints. But the kids just keep on following.
The video cuts out there. But eventually, the father must have realized that free time was a lost cause that day.
Luckily, this video then appeared on YouTube, where it soon went viral. To date, it has gained over 9.3 million views. It also has more than 145,000 likes and 18,000 comments. People have been saying things like this:
The lions in this video are incredibly lucky. They get to call Serengeti National Park their home.
Serengeti National Park sprawls across 1.5 million hectares of Tanzania. It is a safe place for a wide range of different animals that would otherwise be at risk of poaching.
In fact, the park is home to, “the highest concentration of large predators in the world.”
Inside this park are 4,000 lions, 1,000 leopards, 225 cheetahs, 3,500 hyenas and hundreds of wild dogs.
In addition to predators, Serengeti National Park also contains two million wildebeests, 300,000 zebras and 2,700 elephants.
Naturally, the Serengeti National Park has produced more than one amazing video.
The most popular YouTube video to have taken place in the park is about lions hunting buffaloes. And trust us, it is not for the faint at heart.
Both the fatherhood and hunting videos are incredible, for very different reasons.
