Back in pre-historic times, hunting is necessary for humans to survive. It’s an effective way to track and take down even the most violent animal out there in the wild.

Jumping into our current generation, however, hunting is no longer promoted as a way to survive. Instead, most people who go out hunting are only doing it now as a hobby or for fun.

In exchange for people’s enjoyment, a lot of animals are suffering out there.

According to PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), “This unnecessary, violent form of “entertainment” rips animal families apart and leaves countless animals orphaned or badly injured when hunters miss their targets.”

Hunting or the hunters themselves are oftentimes put in a bad light because of what they do. However, we should still make it a habit not to judge quickly and to always look at the brighter side of everything.

Well, that could be the rarest thing that could ever happen between a hunter and a wild animal, right?

This video, however, proves that hunters are still humans who have a compassionate heart for anyone in need, even animals that they usually hunt down.

In this heart-stopping video which now has over 23.7 million views, two male hunters saw a bull Elk that was trapped in a deep mud pit.

But instead of taking the animal down, they decided to help the bull Elk get out of there. Although they aren’t naturally aggressive, an encounter with a bull Elk could still be dangerous.

Elks are one of the largest species within the deer family and you must not let your guard down when they are around.

AZ Animals shares a notable fact about them, on their website they wrote, “The largest elk in the world is the Roosevelt’s elk which can be found in the northwestern United States in Washington and Oregon, and parts of British Columbia. These elk can grow to be 1,200lbs and stand 5ft tall at the shoulder!”

At one point in the video, one of the hunters took a wrong move by getting too close to the bull Elk. To his surprise, the stranded animal launched a sudden attack using its pointed antlers.

Thankfully, the man got quick reflexes and easily dodged the surprise attack.

One hunter used a piece of a tree trunk to lift the bull Elk’s body up and out of the mud, while the other one used his bare hands and tried to lift and pull the wild animal out.

The hunters failed on their first attempt, after all, lifting a bull Elk that could weigh as much as 1,200 pounds wasn’t easy.

The struggle was quite a bit too much because the bull Elk also seemed to be resisting a lot.

The hunters knew every tick of the clock counts, so they jumped into their next plan. They wrapped a power cord around its antlers and tried pulling it.

They were able to get their momentum by pouring out all their energy left. The two hunters even thought of just calling 911, but they knew something worse could happen to the bull Elk if they decided to just wait for animal rescue to arrive.

After 45 minutes of total exhaustion, using their brute strength alone, the hunters managed to successfully pull the animal out of the deep mud pit.

The bull Elk immediately ran for freedom right after being pulled out.

One viewer online who happened to be a hunter himself minced quite a good few words to the hunters in the video.

“I have hunted my whole life, but I would quit for the day and have to get help for an injured or trapped animal. When I was younger I would have been happy to rescue one by myself. You, should never leave a defenseless animal. These guys were great!”

This video proves that what a person does isn’t always the true reflection of him or herself. Even in this cruel world, kindness still exists and we just need to believe in it.
