If you’ve never had the opportunity to play with a ferret, you’re missing out. This creature, which is a type of domesticated European polecat falls into the same family as the weasel. Usually weighing about two to three pounds, they’re highly curious animals.
The other interesting thing about ferrets is most of them have a lot of personality. They’re known for theatrics, which keep owners entertained. So, it’s not surprising that one little guy decided to get dramatic when it came time to go to sleep.
A video gone viral
In a video that’s now been viewed more than 1.7 million times, you get to see just how adorable the ferret is. It starts with this little creature’s owner trying to get him to relax. He’s propped up on her leg while getting lots of petting.
Getting him to relax
As the video plays out, she gently strokes her pet. You can tell by his body that he’s starting to get tired. But like an infant, he’s fighting sleep with everything he has.
Is he asleep?
With his eyes shut tight and appearing to be fast asleep, his owner slowly lowers her hands. She thinks all that love finally put him to sleep.
Yep…he’s out
With her hands completely by her side, it appears this guy is out cold. He stretches his body against her leg and isn’t moving a muscle. Just watching him, you can’t help but smile. He’s super cute.
We love this ferret
You can easily tell by the smile on his owner’s face that she adores her pet. After all, just look at him. Sound asleep without a care in the world. He looks incredibly comfortable to us.
What a sweetheart
Who can blame his owner for just watching him sleep. Although the video isn’t very long, it gives you enough time to see just how much this ferret trusts his human. Usually, this type of animal prefers to roll up in a ball to nap. So, seeing him sprawled out like this is special.
Those little arms and hands
The more relaxed this ferret becomes the more his tiny arms and hands hang down by his side. You’d think after a few minutes of being in this position he’d move a little bit more than that. But he’s perfectly content.
He’s waking up
Only 12 seconds into the video, the ferret begins to raise his head. While his eyes remain closed, it appears as though he has a smile on his face. He’s torn between sleeping and playing. That’s a tough decision to make, especially for a ferret.
A new position
Suddenly, he realizes he’s a ferret. They don’t sleep that way so it’s time for him to get into a more natural position. He quickly scurries into his owner’s lap where he curls up in a ball.
Well…sort of
What started out as a ball changed. He discovers that laying with his head down and his butt up in the air is a much better way to nap. So, that’s where he’s ‘going to stay. We’re not sure how long he sleeps that way but as long as he was happy, that’s all that matters.
