Dogs are known for being caring and loving, and now we seem to be hearing stories more and more often about dogs who have literally saved their owner’s lives!
From dogs who have detected fires, to dogs who have pulled their owners out of freezing cold lakes, it seems that there’s nothing that our dogs wouldn’t do for us – which begs the question: what did we do to deserve them?
Today’s lifesaving pooch had the best reaction when her owner had a seizure. Despite having never experienced this type of condition before, the clever dog sprung into action and did whatever she could to save her owner!
This brave pup deserves an award.
Clover the Maremma mix was on a daily walk in Canada with her owner, Haley Moore, when Haley suddenly collapsed. A neighbor’s security camera catches the moment when Haley falls to the ground, and watching Clover’s response will warm your heart.
Clover clearly understands that something is wrong with her owner, and she can be seen putting her two front paws onto Haley’s chest to try and figure out what’s happening.
When Clover realizes that Haley is in serious need of some help, she quickly jumps in front of an oncoming car – endangering her own life to save her owner’s.
Dryden Oatway was the man behind the wheel, and he was luckily able to brake in time. As soon as he spots Haley, he jumps out of his car and rushes over to help.
At first, Clover is a little hesitant to let anyone close to her owner, but as she realizes that Dryden is here to help, she moves onto the next stage of her plan: informing Haley’s parents.
“It was really impressive, the dog actually blocked my way. She kind of backed into the road to block my truck,” Dryden told CTV News. “The whole time she was backing down the street she had eyes on [Haley], didn’t look away from her. She kept her distance from me but made sure her owner was okay and that was amazing.”
Clover ran straight to Haley’s parents’ home, where the clever pup caused such a commotion that they became aware of the situation in no time at all.
Meanwhile, Dryden called an ambulance, and Haley was rushed away for a medical assessment.
“All I remember is waking up in the ambulance and being really confused; just like what is going on,” she recalled.
At this moment, Haley is still unsure what caused her seizure, but she couldn’t be more proud of Clover.
She knows that if anything happens again, she will be safe with her beloved dog by her side.
“If this ends up happening again, I feel 10 times safer and I know she will be there for me,” Haley said. “You know how good animals are and she’s a really amazing dog and I love her to death.”
Clover proved just how much love a dog has for its owners the day that she risked her life to save Haley’s. Take a look at her life-saving skills in action below!
