Distance and time can change a relationship – unless you are a dog! Once you have a connection with a dog, they will love you forever and always. Dogs may just be one of the best things on this earth for reasons like that. We all know the feeling, too. Walking into your house when you have been gone for a while and seeing your dog absolutely lose their mind with excitement is always one of the best things. Everyone loves to feel missed.
Why do dogs miss us so much?
Some people like to argue that dogs just miss the security and food that humans give them. Although that might make sense, any dog owner knows that this isn’t true. Using an MRI, scientists had the dog smell their owner’s scent and then a stranger’s, then looked at the results.
Another study looked at how dogs behaved with people of varying levels of familiarity – their owner, a stranger and a familiar human – and found that dogs clearly miss their owners more than anyone else, and will wait behind the door they left through in anticipation of their return. So now that we know our dogs actually care about us, this video is just icing on the cake.
We love seeing a good reuniting video. This one has been on the internet for a while and for good reason. It may just be one of the sweetest and heartwrenching (in a good way) dog/human videos out there. It is a good reminder that we don’t deserve dogs.
This dog hasn’t seen his owner in three years.
While we don’t know the circumstances surrounding the reunion, we know that it has been a LONG time since the dog and owner have seen each other. It could be military, school, or something else entirely. What we do know, though, is that that time and distance didn’t matter to this dog much.
You can see the dog waiting at the airport, completely unsuspecting.
The dog is just sitting at the airport, probably enjoying all the smells it is getting! He has no idea that his owner is about to surprise him in the best way. As the dog is walking around a bit, he rounds the length of the leash and comes face to face with a man in a white shirt and black pants.
The entire scene freezes while the dog takes in what is happening.
Moment after moment ticks by as the dog stares intently at the strangely familiar man standing in front of him. Once the man puts his bag down and the dog catches the scent of him, he leaps to action and jumps toward his old friend.
Getting up in his hind legs, he looks like he wants to hug him like a human!
With tail wagging fiercely, this dog is more than excited to see his owner. The little hugs aren’t enough and he tries to jump into the arms of his best friend from three years ago. He is so excited that he lets out shrieking noises that simply can’t be contained. They are finally back together again.
The loyalty of a dog is heartwarming.
This dog shows what love really means! After all those years, he never forgot his friend. We all need a friend like that in our lives!
