They say that rules are meant to be broken.
And if you can’t break them, bend them.
Find a loophole, finesse them, sidestep them, fly under or above them. There’s always a way around the rules.
Lexi is one pup that doesn’t really care for rules.
She’s become a master at working the system.
That’s because Lexi isn’t allowed on the couch. Apparently, it’s an allergy thing with her humans that prevents her from getting comfy on the couch.
But the couch has blankets on it and lots of pillows. And it just looks oh so cozy that Lexi can’t resist it.
She just really wants to be able to relax on it like her humans do.
So, she found a way to bend the rules.
You see, if Lexi’s feet are on the floor she’s technically not on the couch.
She’s still on the floor.
So, she figured out a loophole to being cozy on the couch.
She just snuggles the upper part of her body onto the couch.
That sweet face looks so happy and peaceful snugged up with that blanket on the cozy cushion.
But cozy time didn’t last too long for Lexi.
That’s because mom walked in and caught her.
“Lexi, what are you doing?” mom asks. “Are you supposed to be on there?”
Lexi just bats her pretty eyes at mom and blinks thinking maybe her cuteness will get her a free pass.
“Lexi… Lexi,” mom continues.
Lexi then puts her head down and closes her eyes to see if she can pretend to be asleep so mom leaves her alone.
But that’s definitely not going to work. She opens her eyes again and mom is standing right there.
And Lexi looks pretty sad about it so she tries to close her eyes again.
“Lexi, Lexi… get up,” mom says. “You’re not supposed to be up here.”
So, Lexi tries a new tactic. She adjusts herself on the couch so that her butt is high in the air. She wags her little tail to up the cuteness factor again, trying to persuade mom to change her mind.
But mom is at the end of her rope. Mom is definitely getting stern with Lexi.
“Get off the couch,” she says, putting base in her voice.
Lexi doesn’t budge. But neither is mom.
“Lexi, get off the couch,” she says.
At this point, she knows that mom’s stern voice means that mom business. Lexi finally relents and hops off the couch to go for a stretch.
Lexi did put up a good fight. And who can blame her. All she wanted was a little comfort. And that sweet baby looked so happy up on the couch.
It was fun while it lasted. Mom decided to video Lexi’s silly antics and put it on the internet.
That video ended up going viral and was viewed more than 232,000 times. People found it to be absolutely hysterical.
“She actually reasoned to herself that as long as she’s got one foot on the floor she isn’t technically on the sofa. Lexi is clearly a canine lawyer,” wrote one YouTube commenter.
“Technically, Lexi was NOT on the couch, lol! A blanket between her and back paws on the floor! She is too smart and way too cute! Loved how she wagged her little stump when mom chuckled,” said another.
