As we get older, we learn lessons that only come with time and wisdom. One of the biggest lessons that we can learn is the fact that winning isn’t always everything! Despite our desire to be the best and win in everything we do, there is something valuable in learning how to take defeat well and learn what you can from it.

Winky, the dog, has taught that lesson to the internet in hilarious fashion.

If you have ever felt out of place in gym class in high school or didn’t feel like competing in the same way others do, Winky might be your spirit dog. Competition isn’t for everyone, and we sometimes feel left out by others’ constant desire to compete. Winky, however, has put us all to shame with his amazing performance.

Winky is a bichon frise who is fast becoming the internet’s favorite dog.

Winky’s parents had taken him to an agility course competition and were ready to wow the crowd. They had trained for weeks and wanted to take home the prize! All Winky needed to do was clear some ramps, tunnels, and obstacles – nothing he hadn’t trained for.

Dog agility courses allow you to train your pup and bond with them through mutual practice and exercise!

Dogs love to be mentally and physically stimulated. An agility course is the best of both worlds! It allows pups to think and train using their brains and bodies. It’s super healthy for dogs.

“Dog agility is a sport where you direct your dog through a pre-set obstacle course within a certain time limit. Courses typically have between 14-20 obstacles, which can include tunnels, weave poles, tire jumps, seesaws, and pause tables where the dog must stop for a set amount of time.” – AKC

Sometimes, however, game-time doesn’t reflect practice.

When Winky’s time to shine came, he walked out onto the turf with determination in his little eyes. Walking around before the whistle blew, we had no idea what was about to happen. Then, it started.

Winky wasn’t exactly… motivated.

The goal of these courses is to do it as fast as you can. Someone must have forgotten to tell Winky! Take Gabby, the Papillon, for example. The little dog did an incredible run in less than 40 seconds! Winky… well, Winky didn’t do it that fast.

With a grand time of 100 seconds and 92 errors, Winky was much more concerned with showing off to the crowd!

When his video on Twitter aired for the first time, people couldn’t help but fall in love with him! Watching the non-commital and relaxed dog do something that was meant for speed and precision is one of the funniest things ever!

When you watch it, you can’t help but laugh at how much fun and how little this bichon cares about the competition.

The best part is when he poses on top of the ramp and looks out like a conqueror! Even though he was resigned to the fact that he was losing, Winky was still having more fun than many other dogs do. In our minds, he is a king!
