Dogs have an innate ability to sense things that are unseen, whether it be danger or new life. Penelope is one of those pups that can sense new life.
That’s why she was so excited about her new baby sister on the way.
The baby hasn’t even been born yet and she’s already in love. Penelope lives with her human mom Juliana in Brazil. Her human mom is 34 weeks pregnant.
And somehow, she knows that there is a life growing inside her mommy’s belly.
“I think she knows, yes,” Juliana told The Dodo. “She feels like there’s something different. We set up the little nursery room and she goes in and sits under the crib. She’s always been very needy and affectionate, but toward me, it has increased a lot.”
So perhaps she is getting a little bit jealous because she knows there’s something else who is entertaining Juliana’s affection.
But Penelope isn’t going to let a little bit of jealousy to get in the way.
She loves her sister very much already. In fact, Juliana’s family took a video of the very first time Penelope snuggled up to her sister and show her sister some love.
At first, Penelope inspects her mommy’s belly.
She begins to paw at it a bit indicating that she knows something is in there.
She then starts to nuzzle up against it. It’s like she just wants to get cozy and snuggle up against her unborn sister.
“It’s the first time she’s done this,” Juliana said. “It was very emotional.”
Apparently many others thought so too.
It was posted on Facebook where it has been viewed more than 6.7 million times.
“My mom is pregnant with my little sister, she is 34 weeks and I just want to give affection to her,” the caption read on Fox Paulistinha’s Facebook page.
It’s clear that Penelope just can’t wait for her little sister to arrive.
But not everyone thought so. Some of the negative Nellies chimed in on Facebook but there were others who defended Penelope.
“And here comes people saying you can’t have a dog at home because you’re pregnant. Since when does love hurt someone? These beings are pure love, they are wonderful! It’s bad that we have a lack of empathy and love to the next one we see all the time. I love animals, they’re divine,” Nayane Veras wrote.
Juliana, however, isn’t worried about it all.
“I’m sure Penelope will be a great big sister,” Juliana said.
