The power of music transcends species.
Did you know that cows love music?
It’s true! They’ll flock from hundreds of yards away to hear their favorite tunes.
A few years ago, a farmer and his jazz band even put on a swingin’ performance for the cows.
If you love music and animals, you’ve come to the right place!
On an overcast country day, a child heads to the field with her wooden accordion.
She flexes, bringing the accordion to life. Dense harmonies flutter across the pasture.
Nothing’s really going on besides the subtle movement of bleary masses in the distance.
You’re looking at an accordion wizard!
She turns back for a quick smile.
Our esteemed accordionist looks across the grass. It’s hard to see much of anything.
It’s a mild, quiet country day. Nothing to see here…
Wait!? What’s that in the distance?
These are cultured cows.
They’re lightning quick, moving across the field in the blink of an eye! I’m not sure I’ve seen cows move with so much urgency.
The cameraman, presumably Dad, lets out a hearty chuckle. He’s not the only one enjoying the music!
“Like a stampede. They love that music. Play it again for ’em!”
Sure thing, Dad. The child continues her solo to magnificent results.
The cows keep flocking, desperate to hear her performance up close.
The cows stammer forward, closer and closer. They come in all shapes, sizes, and presumably ages.
They’re ready for the show!
Cows just love music, and they absolutely adore the accordion!
A free show? It’s a no-brainer!
Move over, snake charmers. Meet the cow charmer.
Turns out, cow music is essentially a subgenre on YouTube! Cows are big music buffs.
They’re down with a variety of genres, too! Here they are enjoying jazz.
Obviously, cows aren’t the only animals known to have unique reactions to music.
The animal kingdom’s full of music enthusiasts!
She’s not much different than a snake charmer, ya know.
Instead of a wind instrument, she prefers the accordion.
The cows form a single line, guided by the wheezing harmonics.
There’s a lot to learn about cows in this footage alone. I wonder how much research has been done on cow music tastes.
They want more, so much more! They’re paying the utmost attention.
She flexes the accordion again amid a growing crowd of cows.
By this point, dozens have congregated a few yards away from the fence.
They’ve got front row tickets to the best show in the field!
Their ears are perked and ready for more!
Her sheer joy makes the performance. That smile’s infectious.
Her toothy grin adds the cherry atop a stellar cross-species performance. I’m pretty impressed. So are the cows. Are you?
She may not be able to speak cow, but her accordion does.
The entire exchange is reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, which prominently features cows, lush fields, and accordions!
Who would have thought that cows love human music? I wonder what other animals do, too?
I would pay to watch a cow jazz band!
A metal band would be a sight, too! Or how about a conscious hip-hip cow collective?
I wonder what genre cows prefer. They seem to have good taste.
What do you think of this accordionist’s cow herding performance? Have you ever played music for an animal? What was the reaction?
