Most cat owners have their cats stay indoors to prevent them from being lost, especially if their yard does not have a fence. The cats like the indoors because almost everything they need is there – food, proper shelter, and toys. However, there are times where we see them yearn for the outside world.

Life as an indoor cat.

You might have seen your cats stare at the window all day, or put their faces into the small gaps where they could see the outside. So, try to put yourself in their shoes.

How does it feel being an indoor cat your whole life, especially when there’s a whole new world outside the doors? Of course you would be curious about the foreign environment you haven’t stepped in.

To let their cats taste a bit of the outside world, this couple had the greatest idea.

The couple was stuck in the house because of the pandemic, and there is not much else to do but sit in the house and take care of their kids and their three indoor cats. Since now is the perfect time to realize the plans that they had before, Holli Bennett did just that.

Holli already had planned on making an outside patio for her indoor cats Cheeto, Nacho, and Queso since they were cooped up inside their whole life. However, Holli had been very busy with the kids and their business, so there was no extra time to do it before the lockdown began.

“I would love it if they could go and roam the streets,” Holli told Tyla. “But they could get stolen or hit by a car or be attacked by a coyote or hawk.”

As Holli really wanted to have her cats experience the refreshing nature outside their doors, she made them the perfect haven that also keeps them safe at the same time.

Holli and her husband Roger constructed their planned patio in their yard. They gave it sufficient space so that the cats could enjoy roaming, and they also made it easy for the cats to get in and out. They also put a hammock in it since Holli liked the idea of meditating or reading books with the cats.

With a jungle-like feel and a peaceful ambiance, you could say that it’s a cat paradise.

Holli decorated the patio with a patch of green grass and hung some plants at the corners. They also made them a wooden cat tower where they could freely climb and rest. There’s also a wooden log where the cats could sharpen their claws. Finally, the patio was lit up with a bunch of small lights to illuminate the patio.

They spent only $200 to make this awesome patio, along with Holli’s craftiness to reuse some of their furniture. Their three lovely cats are now able to feel the fresh air and the invigorating scent of nature. The ‘catio’ contains everything that they need.

Since most cats don’t like walks, this is a great idea to get them outside.

Unlike dogs, cats don’t get much sunlight and time outdoors since they would rather laze around the cool tiled floor. Since it is important for them to have a fair share of these natural elements, why not try to borrow Holli and Roger’s idea? We’re sure that your cats would love it as much as their cats did.
