Mark Muldoon wanted to introduce his cockatoos to Elvis.

As the video opens, we see two cockatoos just hanging out on the back of a chair. These lovely birds are relaxing while their human owner strums on a guitar.

After a moment, the guitarist calls out and breaks out into a cover of one of his favorite Elvis songs. You might not think this would matter to birds, but you would be wrong.

It doesn’t take long for the cockatoo on the right to rock out.

The spirit of rock and roll fills the right bird’s body as its head bobs and bounces. You can just see how the cockatoo is enjoying the music as it practically dances across the back of the chair. It’s pretty darn funny!

The bird’s plumage even rises and spreads out, while it spreads its wings. It’s almost like the bird expects Elvis’ music to send it flying and it’s getting ready just in case.

But the bird on the left doesn’t seem so impressed.

Watching the bird on the left is one of the greatest parts of the video. Not only is this bird barely moving to the music, but you can see it scooting away from its more musically inclined friend.

As one YouTube commentor said:

“Dancing bird.. “Watch me headbang!” The other bird..”Get away from me weirdo!”

At one point, the calmer bird has even been nudged to the very edge of the chair. It’s almost like a flight or fall situation as it looks at the dancing bird like it’s gone crazy.

The dancing cockatoo can’t keep still as the song builds.

As the video plays out, the musician strums towards the song’s thrilling conclusion. The notes become faster, the song becomes louder, and you can just feel the energy as if Elvis were playing right there.

The cockatoo has their plumage raised, their wings outstretched, and their head bobbing non-stop. It’s quite an impressive display. But the best part is at the very end when the bird on the left has had enough and flies away.

As one commenter said:

“The other bird looks like his embarrassed wife lol”

Apparently, this isn’t strange for cockatoos.

The video is very cool and it’s easy to see why it’s earned over 86,000 likes on YouTube. But dancing musical birds aren’t even that strange.

Science Focus writes that a Harvard study discovered that animals with vocal mimicry, like parrots, have a heightened ability to stay on beat. In other words, mimics have a musical ear.
