Although cats are natural hunters, most are still dependent on their owners to provide them with tasty treats and keep them well-nourished.

For stray cats — particularly those who live in cities — it’s very hard for them to source their own food and essentially just to keep themselves alive!

They have to rely on kind strangers to give them food, and some days, they may not get anything.

But one little stray had a genius method for making sure he was fed.

Tania Sants shared an adorable video of this clever kitty onto Facebook. She was just popping to a store close to her home in Mexico when she spotted someone looking at her with pleading eyes.

It’s a little white stray cat, and he’s on a mission.

In the video, Tania approaches the kitty, and he gives her a friendly head-butt before looking towards the store doorway. He’s clearly saying to her,

“Come inside, I want to show you something!”

So Tania follows her furry little friend inside, and in a surprising moment, he takes her straight over to the cat food section.

He stares from Tania to the food and then back to Tania again, making it as clear as possible what he wants! The poor little guy must be starving.

As Tania picks up a food pouch, the clever kitty paws at it excitedly, as if to say,

“Yes, that’s exactly what I want!”

Making sure that he does his job properly, the stray follows Tania right until she gets to the cash register. He’s not going to let her change her mind!

Tania rewarded her little buddy with his treat and left the store to continue her day.

But if Tania thought that was going to be the last time that she saw this little guy, then she thought wrong!

Next time Tania enters the store, the stray is waiting for her once more. Can you guess where he’s going to be?

Tania spoke to the shopkeepers and found out that this clever cat hangs out in the store every day, begging for food. After he’s full up with enough tasty snacks, he leaves the store, though no one knows where he goes!

Tania became determined to find out.

The next time she bought the little guy some food, she secretly followed him, wondering if he would eventually lead her to his home.

But heartbreakingly, the little guy settled down on a quiet spot at the side of a road, making it clear that he doesn’t have a home.

It was then that Tania made a decision that would change both of their lives forever.

Tania told The Dodo,

“I took him to my house and I adopted him.”

No one knew how long he had been homeless for, but the poor thing had lost his tail and his fur was pretty matted. He was definitely ready for a loving home.

The sweet little guy now shares a home with Tania and her other fur baby.

Tania returned to the store to ask if anyone had come looking for her new pet, but the owners told her that no one had.

She then left the store — but not without picking up some of her new fur baby’s favorite treats! She told The Dodo,
