African grey parrots are known for their uncanny ability to mimic human speech and understand hundreds of words and phrases.
These amazing birds can even pick up dialect and accents, like Onion the African grey parrot who hails from Scotland.
And sheâs hilarious.
Onion and her fellow grey-feathered buddies are wildly popular winged pets. People around the world own them because theyâre so comical and amiable.

With her own Instagram account, Onion has a legion of followers who love to see what antics sheâs been up to.
She loves looking out the window and gawking at whatâs happening outdoors.
Messing with mum is her favorite
Onion also loves antagonizing her human mum with such craziness as clamping down on the arm of her glasses with her beak and yanking them off her face.
She even pecks and pulls at the curtains just to drive her bonkers.

In a hilarious YouTube video compilation, Onion channels her inner stand-up comedy shtick that has every viewer cracking up.
Her one-liners are hilarious and the fact that she speaks full sentences, bosses her humans around, and is able to sound exactly like a shrill ringing phone and the back-up warning beeper on a work truck is simply astounding.
Sheâs also a great conversationalist.
When the 21-year-old birdâs owner asked her if she has a âfat bum,â she replied âAye! Woo!â

Onionâs repertoire includes âHelloooo,â âHoâre you?â âHiya baby,â âHello baby,â âKissâ and âMwah!â She also has a wee bit of a potty mouth.
âI am frigginâ cold. Go shut the windows, hen.â

Other phrases she chirps out include âShut up,â âCheeky b*stard,â âKiss ya toes,â âSee ya in the morning,â âOkay bye,â âSee ya later,â and Cheerio!â
Sheâs been busted bellowing at the familyâs pet ferret and when the cat came perilously close to her cage, she shouts âNononononoâ at the cat and it scampers off.
Onion does have manners
She can say âthank you.â But she also can burp, and rather loudly at that.

Itâs quite funny when Onion mimics an entire conversation her owner had on the phone and shouts âSee ya later! Toodaloo!â
Many viewers commented on Onionâs heavy Scottish accent and how she cracked them up.
She has a massive following.
Owner Cody Stoddartâs TikToks with Onion have garnered thousands of views and countless comments.

Cody shared with the Daily Record that she brought Onion home when she was three months old.
She sparked a firestorm on social media with more than 181,000 followers today.
âI donât think many people have heard a parrot with an accent so Iâm guessing thatâs why her videos have went a bit crazy. Everyone says she sounds like an old granny or Mrs. Doubtfire but itâs genuinely my mum she copies since she sits with her all day while Iâm at work.â

Out of all the videos Cody has posted, she does have a few at the top of her list.
âMy favorites are probably when sheâs telling the cat off or when I hear her asking âWhereâs Cody?â I canât think of anything she wonât say. She mostly just picks things up from listening to everyone talk and have conversations.â
