As pet lovers, there’s nothing we love more than softly petting our furry friends.

All we need is a good show on Netflix, one free hand to eat popcorn, and the other hand caressing our fur babies. For many housecats, endless scratches and rubs are considered the mark of a quality time.

Cats often grow to love their owner’s constant affection, and if they don’t, they’ll usually let us know with a scratch or two.

One cat, however, has a bit of a varying opinion on the scratching matter, and it’s just about the cutest thing we’ve seen.

The video begins with this cute kitty sitting politely on what appears to be a high-rise table in its owner’s kitchen.

Almost instantly a hand makes its way into the camera’s view and onto the cat. It’s time for some quality ear scratching! At first, everything appears to be going smoothly. The cat seems to enjoy the scratches behind its ears and below its neck. It even moves its head with its human’s hand to optimize each rub. So far, so good!

At this point, most cats would probably be thinking “Yes, mom, that’s the spot,” but it turns out that this cat is not like most of its kind. After about ten seconds of quality scratches, this cat is done with all of the rubbing and petting.

Instead of snarling or hissing to show its displeasure, this cat tells its owner to stop petting it in the politest of ways.

This wise kitty gently pushes the hand back down onto the table!

It seems that this particular cat comes with a time limit on petting. If a cat ever did this to me I wouldn’t know whether to be more shocked or amused. That is one smart kitty, but the video isn’t over yet. There’s still time for this cat to transition from calm to aggravated.

Instead of pushing the hand down and releasing its paw, this feline continues to gently hold the hand down for another three seconds!

I guess one push wasn’t enough to get its point across. This cat utilizes three whole seconds to convince its human to stop rubbing it. I am truly floored by its etiquette. There are absolutely zero scratches and zero hisses. This fur baby is just too darned polite!

With their tiny noses, slick movements, and general self-sufficiency, we can understand why cats consistently rank as a popular pet option.

So, for all you cat owners out there, what do your precious felines do to get their point across?

Are they as gentle as this kitty, or do they usually respond with a sharp scratch or two? They may have nine lives, but we surely don’t!
