Lisa Kitchen had her Maine Coon cat for three years and never once, literally not once, has he ever loved on his human mom.

But one day that all changed.

“My cat has never been affectionate in the 3 years we have had him,” she wrote on Reddit.

Max was, however, an absolute daddy’s cat and would follow his human father around the house and cuddle up with him and nap on his chest.

“He’s definitely my husband’s baby that’s why it was such a shock when he gave me love,” Lisa explained.

Apparently, Max knew something that Lisa didn’t.

“He just started sleeping between my legs and being all over me,” Lisa said. “Turns out he knew I was pregnant before we did.”

It did take a little time before Lisa realized though. She came up with a few explanations but eventually realized that the cat may have been sweet on the new baby.

“I thought he was doing it because it’s been cooler out but even in years past when it got cold he always went and cuddled with my husband instead,” she said. “When he first did it I squealed and said ‘omg I have finally been chosen.’ Nope, just pregnant lol.”

According to The Dodo, Max started to beg for her attention by meowing at her loudly.

He started doing that for the next few days and when Lisa would try to give him some affection, he actually accepted it.

Then things got even more peculiar when Max started to snuggle with her when she slept.

At that point, she knew something was up. So, she took a test which confirmed that she was pregnant.

“We found out a day before our three year wedding anniversary,” Lisa said.

Now Max is completely attached to Lisa and obsessed with protecting his future brother or sister.

“He rubs on my legs now, he screams for me if he doesn’t know where I went,” Lisa told The Dodo. “I have to yell, ‘Mommy’s downstairs, Max,’ and then he chirps and runs down the stairs for me. He has been Velcro ever since. Now at nighttime, I have to make a space for him on the bed near me, he doesn’t bother with my husband anymore.”

But Lisa said she doesn’t mind and is soaking up every bit of Max’s love while she still can.
