75 pissed off animals you do not want to mess with

We like to think about animals as having relatively stress-free lives. After all, what do they have going on that would stress them out? It’s not like they have responsibilities or a schedule. Our pets don’t have to go to school, earn money, or pay bills. By that logic, they should be happy most of the time. They live the life that all humans dream of.
But animals have emotions just like the rest of us. If you own a dog or cat, you’ve probably become pretty good at reading their body language. You know just like people, they have days where they’re happy, sad, irritated, anxious, and stressed.
So, it’s not surprising to know a variety of emotions affect animals of almost any species. Yes, even birds, fish, reptiles, and amphibians have good and bad days although they might not be quite as complex as ours.
But if there is one emotion most animals manage to communicate, it’s anger. Sometimes, they vocalize to let us know they’re feeling irritated, like a cat’s hiss or a dog’s growl. And in some instances, we can tell they’re angry just by looking at their faces… like these 75 grumpy animals.
1. Birthdays are the worst
Not everyone is a birthday person, and clearly, not every dog is a birthday dog. I guess we all get to the age when we outgrow our birthday even though our family still wants to celebrate.
2. The angriest bunny in the world
This bunny was rescued after getting stuck in someone’s yard. It was driven to a nearby field and released back into the wild. But it made its feelings clear while it was in captivity.
3. “Am I being mocked?”
This hedgehog’s owner was just trying to make her feel more at home with some new hedgehog friends. Unfortunately, she was less than thrilled about being upstaged.
4. He hates the ball and you
Call the Guinness Book of World Records and tell them you’ve witnessed the grumpiest ball game in the history of the world. This cat looks furious to be playing a fun game out in the yard.
5. Those eyebrows are intense
Most fish don’t have eyebrows, and this one doesn’t either. But those markings above the eyes are in the perfect spot to make him look as though he has a permanent scowl.
6. He’s ready to rumble
Not only does this dog have a mean mug, but he also knows how to stand up on his hind legs. The overall effect is so threatening that I’m pretty sure I’m about to get beaten up.
7. He hasn’t gotten over the bath
This dog’s bath is over but he hasn’t forgiven his owners quite yet. He has to sit there for a while and stew over the indignity of being washed with soap and given a rubber ducky.
8. Talk about an evil smile
Forget looking grumpy — this little lizard looks downright villainous. I have a feeling he might be plotting world domination. We’d be in real danger if he was any bigger.
9. The angriest of high fives
This little frog is so angry that he doesn’t care about anything or anybody. Well, he cares just enough to return a high five — but he’s NOT GOING TO BE HAPPY ABOUT IT.
10. That’s an unfortunate resemblance
Oh no — not only does this fish have a perpetually grumpy scowl, but it also has a dark splotch on its upper lip. It looks somewhat like a mustache…the mustache of a German dictator, perhaps.
11. “PUT ME DOWN”
If you were this tiny, you’d probably be angry, too. It’s hard not to be mad when people keep picking you up and cuddling with you. They might think you enjoy it but you’re filled with rage.
12. Is this an Angry Bird?
When some golfers invaded his golf course, this bird showed up to tell them what he thought of them. He’s got a real “Get off my lawn” vibe, don’t you think?
13. Zero stars
Some animals love going to the pet groomer for a day of baths, nail trims, and cuddles. This cat, on the other hand, is less than pleased. Be ready for her Google review.
When your owner gets a new significant other, it’s important to let them know that you were there first. The best way to do that is by following them from room to room and glowering ominously.
15. This turtle has had enough of you
The internet’s favorite curmudgeonly animal, Grumpy Cat, sadly passed away in May 2019. But this tiny turtle might be a good replacement. Grumpy Turtle, anyone?
16. He might be tiny, but his anger knows no limits
Nothing is more frustrating than being filled with rage when you’re also tiny and adorable. He has real problems, but no one takes him seriously — they just want to give him lots of cuddles.
17. “Get that camera out of my face”
The dog in the back seems perfectly happy to strike a pose, but the one in front isn’t having it. What can we say? Not everyone likes having their picture taken.
18. Run, puppy, run
This poor puppy might want to turn tail and run for the hills. Not only is the cat is bigger than him but it’s also giving him the angriest glare I think I’ve ever seen on an animal.
19. 15 years old and still angry
As we get older, we all get a little grumpier and more tired. Frankie the dog is 15, so it makes sense he’s a bit grouchy. That’s about 76 in human years in case you were wondering.
20. Might’ve been a sneeze
Maybe the camera caught the cat in the middle of a sneeze. Or perhaps it’s expressing its thoughts on taking selfies. Kids these days, am I right?
21. It’s cozy…but also angry
This bird looks so cozy while cuddled up on the human’s hand. At the same time, it’s obviously ticked off. Maybe he’s moving a bit too much for comfort.
22. No one will be kissing this toad
Okay, technically you’re supposed to kiss frogs, not toads. That’s probably a good thing since this toad looks like it wouldn’t respond well to a kiss.
23. Prickly in every sense of the word
This little hedgehog might be tucked up cozily, but that doesn’t mean he’s happy. Put the camera away, he’s trying to take a nap over here. Some people have no courtesy.
24. “A little privacy, please”
There’s nothing worse than having your privacy violated. If someone stuck a camera into my house, I’d be pretty angry, too. Can’t you see this is a private nest?
25. He wants you to get off his lawn
Okay, okay, this fish doesn’t technically have a lawn, but its resemblance to an old man is uncanny. Is there a fish version of that? How about “Get away from my tank”?
26. How you feel when you can’t find any acorns
If you’ve never seen a squirrel fold its arms before, you’re not the only one. Something must’ve made this squirrel really mad. Perhaps someone or another critter stole all the acorns.
27. When your neighbors are mowing at 7 a.m.
Forget seeing just one angry bird — how about an entire nest of them? But we relate to these little birds. This is how we respond when someone’s making noise in the neighborhood early on a Saturday morning.
28. He was told not to eat dirt
To be fair, this puppy always looks angry — he has a classic example of a resting grumpy face. But in this case, his owner just told him to stop eating dirt. So, in this case, he genuinely angry.
29. When he finds out you’re going to the vet
Most dogs love car rides, so there must be a reason this one’s giving its owner a dirty look. Maybe it thought they were on their way to the dog park.
30. “Just stop talking”
Some types of tortoises can live to be over 100 years. So, it’s not surprising they look a little bit peeved. You’d be annoyed, too if you’d been doing tortoise stuff for decades.
31. Is it just me, or…?
There’s no denying this little bird looks pretty grouchy. But is it just me or does it also bear an incredible resemblance to Bernie Sanders — who, to be fair, also looks kind of grumpy sometimes?
32. Watch out for those talons
Owls are known for being grumpy birds, but they’re not usually so close to people. This little guy’s grouchy expression is especially unnerving since those talons are mere inches away.
33. I’m not sure why he hates me, but I know he does
We’ll never know what got this cat so upset, but I’m guessing it has something to do with his fur. It could just be that he’s having a bad fur day.
34. He’s not mad, he’s just disappointed
Is this cat angry or is he just giving us a stern lecture? I could figure it out if I wasn’t so distracted by the fact that he’s also part cloud.
35. Well, that’s terrifying
Most animals are cute even when they’re angry…and then there’s this dog. I’m sure he’s cute on a regular day. But right now, he looks downright horrifying.
36. What an angry pancake
Introducing animals into the same house can be difficult. After all, you never know how they’ll get along. They might end up being best friends. Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s the case for these two.
37. “Take me home, I dare you”
You would think all the animals at the pet store would be on their best behavior so that people want to adopt them. Not this guy. You take him as he is or not at all.
38. Tread lightly, doggie
Dogs have the unfortunate habit of getting a little too close to animals that can seriously mess them up. This bird isn’t that big, but it could still cause some serious damage to the poor dog.
39. He’s judging you
Most dogs love their owners no matter what they do. They’re always full of love and incredibly loyal. But this dog still judges his owner a bit, and he doesn’t approve of what he sees.
40. So tiny and full of rage
It seems to be the theme that tiny animals are the grumpiest ones. You’d be grumpy too if you were so small that you couldn’t ever do anything for yourself. The world needs to feel their rage.
