Every year, we look forward to putting up the Christmas tree. Then decorating said Christmas tree. But that’s not always an option when you have pets.
Our pets love Christmas trees as much as we do. Maybe a little too much. They see Christmas trees at the perfect toy.
One that’s sparkly with lots of dangling things from it. Some even may think that it’s food. So, people have to come up with some pretty crafty ways to prevent their pets from destroying their Christmas tree.
Here are 40 people that found the most brilliant way to protect their Christmas tree from pets:
This cat proof tree relies on a kitchen appliance. This couple decided to get a tiny tree and put it on top of their refrigerator. But won’t the cat just up on the cabinets and attack the tree?
So, these people don’t have to worry about keeping their tree safe from cats. They have a fox to worry about. So, they created a dimensional traveling tree. That looks like it’s going through and coming out of the ceiling at the same time. The fox seems amused.
This couple came up with the perfect soultion. Put up a tapestry of Christmas tree. Yet this cat still looks determined to destroy it.
These vaccum cleaners are protecting the tree. The dog is afraid of them. So, this couple figured the vaccums would prevent the dog from eating their ornaments.
This woman got a tiny tree and put it on top of her TV. The “holiday table” is the only area in the house that the cats don’t mess with. That’s because it’s covered in cat statues and they think it is a shrine to them.
This is a real sad-looking tree. It’s worse than the Charlie Brown tree. Why have a tree at all? The cat looks pretty pissed about it but he’s still gonna stand next to it in case it happens to sprout branches and ornaments for him to mess with.
I’m not sure what this tree is made of. Whether it’s paper or felt. Either way, the cat doesn’t seem to be all that interested in destorying it.
This family had to settle for a teeny tiny tree. And even then, they still had to cage this tree. They keep it in a lantern.
Damn this tree doesn’t even have lights on it. It’s not even right side up. This cat has officially ruined Christmas.
This wins for the most clever cat Christmas tree deterrent ever. Every time this cat tries to climb the Christmas tree, they make him wear this Christmas outfit for 15 minutes. It works most of the time.
You don’t have to forgo a Christmas tree if you have a naughty cat. This family has a nice sized tree that is perfeclty decorated. They’ve somehow managed to hang it from a wall.
These invisible trees look really cool and modern. It just takes a lot of time to properly position the ornaments. This cat is still scheming on it though.
This is a chair gate. It’s gate made from chairs to prevent this dog from getting near the tree. I like how they covered it with a cloth to make it look… nicer?
This is how you put a tree “up” when you have cats. They hung it from their ceiling fan. Technically it is “up.”
Here is another upside down tree. With another cat that’s wondering how he can still attack it. That or he’s admiring the Harry Potter poster.
Sometimes you have to cage your tree. Not the cat, the tree. This cat looks pissed that he’s been defeated.
This tree is doing double duty. It’s both baby AND dog proof. This tree isn’t even on their radar.
18) Guard Dog and the Guarded Tree
This is a guard dog. He’s been caught off guard. He’s never been on the opposite end of guarding.
Yeah… sorry but this totally doesn’t count as a tree. Nice try though! Their cat was still angrily meowing at it since she couldn’t get to it. I mean, what do they expect? They do have a fish and mouse ornament that look like cat toys hanging here.
Now here we have a solution. It looks just like a Christmas tree! And it’s still a real plant.
This looks like you’re starring into a window at a Christmas tree. It’s got the lights and everything. I got the Christmas feels from it.
So, this started out as a good idea. The cat doesn’t like the vaccum cleaner, so why not put the tree on it? But it looks like this cat is about to overcome his fear of the vaccum.
Honestly, this is real impressive. This tree is perfectly decorated. How the hell did they even do that?
This is a trimmed tree. Get it? They trimmed the entire bottom of it. At least there is a good amount of tree left. Look at these two very angry cats!
This family baby gated the tree to dog proof it. I love how they decorated the gate with bows. It makes it look festive and nice.
These people were going to have their cat, tree or not. So, they covered it in plastic wrap. It just looks like a tree that was delivered fully decorated and never unwrapped.
These people gave up on having a tree with their giant cat here. So, they decided to use their tomato cage. They just put it upside down and put a blanket over it.
28) Look What They Did To My Tree!
Now that is a tree! Poor little doggy here. He looks pretty upset about not being able to get close to that tree.
This is another really smart idea. They just used some garland and wrapped it in the shape of a tree. Then they added lights.
Here we have another “trimmed tree.” They only used lights and left off the ornaments. This kitty has a high jump so they couldn’t take any chances.
So, this family’s kitty doesn’t really care about the tree part. They just like messing with the ornaments. So, they got a very tall tree and just decorated the top.
32) Presents Guarding the Tree
Finally, a wonderfully festive solution. One that doesn’t look like a solution at all! Just put giant heavy presents in front of your tree!
There’s a c
ompany that actually makes pet-proof Christmas trees. It’s called a half personal tree. You can buy one here.
So, this isn’t exactly a cat-proof tree. It’s the opposite of that. But it’s still a decent alternative for people with cats that destroy Christmas tree. You can learn how to make one
here.
We’re not sure if this family was trying to protect this tree from babies or pets. Either way it’s working. They put their tree in a crib.
Sometimes you just have to know when you’re beat. So, these people just decorated their cat tree. They put up ornaments that they don’t mind their cats messing with.
This Christmas King is pretty furious. That’s because he has to wear the antlers every time he goes near the tree. He does not like the antlers.
This tree is fenced in and cornered off. And it looks really nice. This is another pet-proof tree win.
This tree has been pee proofed. They put their tree up on a table. Now the dogs can’t pee on it.
This is another awesome solution. They took one of those outdoor spiral trees and hung it from the ceiling. They then hung some ornaments from it.
