10-week-old Jack Russell does obstacle course his own way
Hey…he’s only 10-weeks-old.

If you currently own or have ever had a Jack Russell terrier, you understand first-hand that this breed is a bundle of energy. Especially when a puppy, they’re always on the go. Although these dogs make great pets, they were originally bred in England to hunt fox. Their responsibility wasn’t to kill the prey but to simply flush it out.

With incredible stamina, athleticism, and a desire to please, the Jack Russell terrier has become a popular breed for obstacle course competitions. Most of them fly right throughout without any problem. But one 10-week-old puppy had a different take on what he was supposed to accomplish.

Ready to go

From the very beginning of the competition, this pup was ready to show off his amazing skills…well, sort of. The only problem was his little legs moved too fast for his body, not once but throughout the entire course. From the get-go, he stumbles but immediately picks himself back up.

He gets a lot of encouragement

In a video that’s now been viewed a whopping 13-plus million times, you see his handler giving him lots of encouragement. For this little guy, that’s all he needs. At first, the crowd thought his stumble was a one-time oops…but that’s not the way things worked out.

“I’ll do it my way”

After making some successful jumps, this Jack Russell headed toward the pole bending portion of the course. Normally, dogs weave their bodies through carefully placed stakes. This is perhaps one of the most exciting parts of the competition considering how fast they move.

But this pup figured out a way to shave some time off his score. He’d just run around the poles rather than through them. I’m not sure that helped.

The crowd can’t help but laugh

Poor pup…he’s trying his very best but because of his funny antics, the audience can’t help but bust out laughing. The announcer got it right when he said, “He’s all over the place.” However, determined to get it right, his handler had him go back to try again. This time, he did the pole bending beautifully…almost.

He makes some impressive moves

While this Jack Russell puppy missed the last two poles, he nailed the tunnel, as well as the next jump. Remember when we said how this breed has a lot of energy? That’s seen when he goes over the bridge. He gets so much air it looks as though he’s going to wipe out — but he doesn’t.

The announcer can’t stop snickering

Throughout this pup’s performance, people keep giggling, including the announcer. Everyone fell in love with this sweet dog and at just 10-weeks-old, he deserves some leeway. Following two more perfect jumps, something catches his eye in the corner of the arena. So, in true Jack Russell terrier style, he has to take a second to investigate.

Perfect narration

The announcer sounds as though he’s having just as much fun as the pup. One person commented, “I love the announcer. Seriously. ‘What a nose dive…and he couldn’t care less!’ I’m crying.” Another poster had this to say, “This puppy is the embodiment of ‘Doesn’t matter if you win or lose, just have a good time.’”
