Nine-year-old Elliot lived most of his life as a stray in Sussex, England. One day, a Good Samaritan noticed him wandering around the streets and tried to take him in. Unfortunately, the Good Samaritan quickly realized they were allergic to Elliot. And so, they surrendered the cat to the Cats Protection’s National Cat Adoption Center.

The staff at the shelter quickly realized there was something different about Elliot. The little cat couldn’t seem to stop sneezing.

A vet took a look at Elliot and diagnosed him with rhinitis. Some days, Elliot won’t sneeze at all. Other days, he’ll have long sneezing bouts that seem to go on endlessly.

“Elliott is definitely very snuffly and his condition means he has some damage to the bones in his nose,” Tania Marsh, deputy manager of the Cats Protection’s National Cat Adoption Center, said in a press release. “However, this doesn’t bother him and he is a happy, affectionate chap.”

Elliot has been in the shelter for four months, and he hasn’t been able to find an adopter. The shelter thinks this is because of his sneezing habit.

“We think his condition has put off some people from adopting him, which is a shame as [he] would make a lovely pet. We’re looking for a patient and loving owner who can give Elliott the loving home he desperately needs.”

Elliot’s sneezing doesn’t seem to bother him.

The cat is as sweet as can be, and he loves getting pets and cuddles from his favorite humans. All this affectionate cat wants is a forever home—preferably one that doesn’t mind stocking up on tissues!

The shelter shared an adorable video of one of their staff members hugging Elliot. It’s clear that the cat is incredibly affectionate.

Cats Projection said that they know adopting a cat with special needs can be a daunting task, but they hope someone will open their heart and home to Elliot.

“Cats with health conditions may seem like a daunting prospect at first, but in many cases they can be managed well with the right care. Cats like Elliott deserve a safe, warm and loving home as much as any other cat, and we hope we can find a new owner for him soon,” Marsh said.
